ADV WC Chicken strips - Be honest

Just remember guys if you're a typical tosser and weight @100kg touching a peg is not such a big deal. Ride with the balls of your feet on the pegs and don't stick your feet out and you won't sracp your boots.

Hi Ape, yes I ride on the balls of my feet most of the time - old habits... I did did some club racing and have ridden nothing but radical sports bikes for about 35yrs until NOW!!! I do a little bit of track day instruction and wondered if I'd feel totally comfortable hustling a GSA around rather than the S1000RR that I used to use, but I was a lot more surprised than I thought that I would be (if that makes sense?), what a bike! It's brilliant!!!

The only thing holding me back from leaning further was knowing that I had Anakees on and also knowing that they weren't really designed for that type of use, although to be fair they did grip well! Just wondering what to fit next???

Dunlop Roadsmart II, Bridgestone T30 or Michelin PR4

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to say that this thread shows the true spirit of a proper biker... don't care about vibrations, noise, fuel economy... but chicken strips!!!!

You made my night redrick, btw, it made me going to the garage and check, almost 2 cm here... according to my mates... I'm not a slow rider :)

Different riding styles make a big impact on lean angle and tyres.

Juanma.

It's all about the profile. By my own admission I am not the most confident of riders when he comes to the curvy stuff as I have a healthy risk aversion which has kept me alive and unharmed ( ok a bit the dust and broke a wrist once but that was a mechanical) for 30 yrs of riding. However , I can ride off the edge of the tread on my GS TC but the fat 190 Sportec M5 on the rear of my Guzzi has about an inch and can't get any more over on the tyre.

I'm favouring the Pilot Road 4s - have been hearing good things and have also seen them in action at track days.

Hi Juanma33, luckily my bike is a peach! I know that there are threads on here describing issues by some people who have not been as lucky with their pride & joy, but I quite literally just ride it and enjoy it, wherever I'm going?!

same here . Boots can touch down but the 5-10 mm chicken strip on the rear tyre remains.

the fronts are very close to the edge though.

.

I've got about 8mm on the rear but the front is fully scrubbed, which has unnerved me a little!

Normally the other way round ? Is it because they've chucked a wider rear wheel on the WC ?

Same here - 5-10 mm though I've not touched anything else down yet. Pushed it about as hard as I feel comfortable, but not nearly as confident on this as I was on my previous hex-head.

I don't know what it is exactly but the GSA WC feels a lot less surefooted in corners, I keep getting the random feeling that the front tyre is giving out... never got that with the GSA even on TKCs

It's funny that this should be mentioned. I did a track day recently and noticed the same... still about 8mm of chicken strip on the rear! Every session I pushed it a little bit more thinking that must have done it, but no!!! I was running Anakees with about 30psi in the front and 32 in the rear (cold). In fact, the front is worn closer to the edge than the rear. The Anakees gripped incredibly well for the type of tyre they are. A mate was running Michelin Pilot Road 4s on his GS and they were worn to the edge. I checked other GSs running Anakees and they were all pretty much the same, about 8mm of chicken strip left.

I'm probably confused but tyre pressures at 30/32 seems low to me. I've run 36/42 for years and never had problems.

Saying that I rarely get less than 8mm strips. Roads around here are too narrow to get any more lean.
