Imagine this:
You’re riding on a rutted road under a scorching sun, miles away from home, excited to be on your Big Adventure. You’re in Roadibu, a remote and beautiful country. A few dozen miles down the road is a big picturesque village. You’re expecting to find fuel, water, food and hospitality there. Life is looking good.
But something just doesn’t feel right. The road is far too quiet. And you have this nagging feeling that you’re about to ride straight into problems.
And then, as you go over the brow of a hill, you see this.
<a href='http://postimage.org/' target='_blank'><img src='http://s21.postimg.org/r6c38uvrb/checkpoint_Africa_stock.jpg' border='0' alt="checkpoint Africa stock" /></a>
Behind the white car, somebody is down on the tarmac. He is completely motionless. And there is a bike lying next to him. You recognize the bike. It’s the guy whom you met in that hostel in Petrolia, the capital of Roadibu, only a few days ago.
What would you do?
To answer this question, you need training.
This is where we come in.
I am an international journalist who has worked hostile environments around the world, and a passionate motorcycle traveller. I have teamed up with 1st Option, a company which provides medical and security training to the media and NGOs. We are developing a first aid and security course for adventure motorcyclists.
A trial run of our future course, a simplified version of what will eventually become a three-day event, will take place on the 20th of February in Tunbridge Wells, in Kent.
We will discuss treatment of motorcycling casualties, dealing with trauma and disease, managing crowds, behaviour around armed people, information security. And then, at the end of the day, we will set up a fun hands-on exercise which will simulate some of what you will have learned.
We are not planning to make any money on this trial course, so all the lessons will be free. On the day, however, we will ask for a £30 per person contribution to the facility fee charged by our landlord. We will also be grateful for detailed feedback.
We can only accommodate 12 people on the trial course. So if you’re interested, you need to be quick to sign up. Please send me a direct message now or simply comment on this post.

my first question in my head would be why are they blocking the carpark to tesco's

:)

I have no idea how me and my many friends have survived without this course. First aid fair enough. Long Way Round used their escape and evade training loads in that little trip of theirs (not). The world does have some dodgy places, best to do your homework before you enter those certain countries. Tesco's, Sainsbury's and other lucrative supermarkets all hold a degree of risk I suppose. ;)

Agree 100%, Yesterday I arranged with my wife that I will go RTW solo in 2017 a trip I have been looking at for a little while, the last thing I would ever do is take part in a course like the one offered. I have travelled most continents solo on my bike and never been treated with anything less than with 100% friendliness, curiosity and humour. The most danger I have ever encountered was from a mosquito that I caught Malaria from in Peru. I have been in a few war zones both as an active participant of hostilities and other times as a civilian traveller. This government of ours scares people into not doing things and going places that are wonderful in their diversity and full of real characters. I look on courses like this with a fair bit of scepticism. No more than a glorified H&S course.

Here is the danger, here is what to do (it will never be the same scenario in real life) GIVE US YOUR MONEY. Emphasis on the money

Think I'm cynical? Here is the website.

Oh and while I'm in the rant mood, I find the photo attached by the OP racist and patronising.

I should rephrase my bit. it's not really training.... it's a glorified jolly and once you've satiate your own curiosity of guns, which even the most hardened gun nut does after about 2 hours of letting rip..... (plus it stings in the wallet area) You get driven round Prague in a nice minibus on a massive booze inspired adventure.....

£1,200 is just a number, it gets rid of time wasters. once someone says they;ve got a group of 10. We then workout what the real cost is, it's tailored to private groups and they tell us what they want, then we make the trip fit their budget

flights are available from as little as £25 hotels range from £45 a night to £300 a night we choose the right one and get a delegate rate. ammo costs money, so do minibuses and locals to driven'em

it is what it is.... and makes no bones about it

we did have 4 blokes along who shot in the region of 20,000 rounds over 3 days..... others who wanted to offroad each to their own.

Fair do's.

He's a bit short of cash at the min....

well we haven't all made it, either by our own effort of just by ripping others off.

I'm sure I'm fair about the way I do business and I like to pay the folks I employ the money they've earnt, and we've agreed on. Rather than shaft them out of a few pennies or skimping to try and line my own pocket. I leave that to others.... who are more inclined to do that.

anyway I think I make enough from UK hardware sales, plus a few other things I arrange. This gig keeps my mate and his family who live there in tea and biscuits, and helps run the workshops....

All funds are cleared and held in escrow, as they should be. Till we've brought you back to the airport so we pay upfront for everything. it's been running for three years and we've had no complaints, but then if I meet you at the airport and don't like the look of you or your party.

you get a refund at that point minus admin fees.

it's kept our suicide incidents to "zero" which can't be said for all the different service providers over there....!

In the summer ride your bike over to us camp near the range, we've had a massive cook out there.... with roast wildboar, Goulash, Cold beer and other cool stuff. Alternatively go visit some wannabe arsehole in wales.... sit in some industrial estate eating over priced mankey hamburgers which are probably past they're sell by date. Then pay over the odds for crap then come on here and gripe on about what sort of *unt he is :)

guess so but then I'm not the bloke who was advised and had to settle out of court :)

I never claimed to be clever :) I claimed to be honest....

perhaps it could be said somedays are better than others, I suspect on the other matter not having totalled it all up I did loose around /probably more than a million pounds.

then again at some point you have to place your trust in someone, and it's only money really :) which wasn't all mine so it's not that bigger deal :D
