Just wanted to ask if the adventure is much taller than a standard GS, when using the original seats? As I am not the tallest person ever.. 5'8 with a desire to own a GS, and having sat with my feet flat on the floor when on a normal GS, I wasnt sure if the Adventure would be a bike I could consider.

Wasnt sure if anyone my hight owns one of these advnture beasts?

Heres hop:confused:eing

Hi Chris,

I've just bought a 1200 GS Adventure and I got the dealership to fit a standard GS seat. I have it on the low setting and I'm fine with it. I am used to tall bikes as I also ride a KTM 625, but I'm only 5'6"!

Why not go to a dealership and ask to sit on one and find out?

David.

seat height

Hi Chris,I now have an ADV your more than welcome to try it out for size,if you want to I will bring it down .Although it does have a corbin fitted!!.Andy

Thanks

Thanks for the info ... very encourageing.. I really hope that a low seat will put the GSA under my bum with my feet .. or tippy toes on the ground.

Maybe I should consider some of those Goth boots :eek::eek:

And I hear platforms are now back in fashion:thumb2

What you need is the new Touratat de riguer vertically challenged GSer boot !

The answer to my prayers

Short legs sir, on a tall bike sir !Oooohh uits you sir:eek:

Hi Chris

I had a similar problem and opted to replace the standard adventure shocks with some Wilbers units made to special order which drops the height by about 25mm.

Perfect solution for me and makes the bike a much safer option.

i have a standard 1150gs and as its to tall for me, have ordered a set of wilbers lower shocks, so may have a front standard 1150gs wilbers shock for sale and a standard Ohlins rear, both mint, much better than oem shocks.

I would say with the standard seat off the ADV is too big.

I have a 32" inside leg and i was on my toes, things were alittle better when i had a passenger on, but if they moved at the lights i was nearly toppling over. Trying to balance 240kgs + passenger isnt easy.

I have (today) fitted a wunderlich low ergo seat and ive got my feet on the ground now :thumb2

Much cheaper than a new shock!

true, but a new set of shocks will improve the handling no end and can be sold on later, when you upgrade the bike:nenau

Upgrading suspension will always be the better route, but for getting your feet on the floor, a low seat has to be the quickest, easiest and cheapest option.

How much did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking ?

I found my Wunderlich low ergo 2nd hand, i paid 160Euro, about 100 sterling.

On their website in germany they are 255 euro.

Its been tippin it down with rain all day but i managed to get half an hour of riding in and it just feels so much more comfortable. And being lower, i got a good hold of it now when im stopped. :thumb2

It's not clear ...

... if you are referring to the 1150 or 1200  If it's the former then you are welcome to try my SE for size; although it's soon to be fitted with a Corbin seat which will make a difference :thumb

The Wunderlich Ergo Superlow seat is around £300 - £360 wherever you buy it... unless second hand. Not cheap.

just purchased a corbin for my 1150 and what a difference a joy to ride it has also raised the riding postion although still thinking about lowering the pegs:beerjug:

Can I ask how tall you are as am just changing to the 1150gs myself and found the lowest seat setting fine and I am five foot 4 or 5 so was curious if thats ok
