I would like a mount to fit my Zumo GPS to the centre of the screen. I have at present mounted the Zumo on the garmin supplied mount, but does not look great.

kiwi, how ya going. I noticed you bought the adv. Apart from the obvious, how are you finding the bike compared to the hp2. Again apart from the obvious. The thing is after being without my hp2 for a few months im ichy to get another........however, going from a hp2 to an adventure must be something akin to leaving a ferrari for a family wagon. I know from past experience owning a gs that they are great mile eaters but the reason i sold the gs and bought the hp2 was to get onto something lighter. So are u loving the adventure. Im assuming u used to throw your hp2 around and ride it like a dirt bike, with this in mind im needing to know your opinions ........as i weight up my next purchase

Hi, this is hard to believe but the adventure rides just as well even a little better than my HP2. The new gear box makes the bike feel light and I can see the front wheel coming up real easy. The HP2 was fun but I was pleased to get a good trade as I thought the price would really drop once the 450 arrives. I have put my name on a 450, I'm not sure yet as the ADV may be enough bike for me.
The adventure will go any where the HP2 went I mean the HP is not a light bike and the gearing was still to high. So far the ADV would be the best bike I have owned for my type of riding.

Plus I can fuel the bike with as little or as much fuel that I may need for a ride. I found the 1150 adventure a little hard to get up of the side stand with a full tank, but the 08 adventure seems to be no problem.

I fitted a Tom Tom Rider on the lower bar of the screen mounting and to the right. (No Photos). It has a similar type mounting as the Garmin. I had to flip back the screen to get at the mounting bolts. It works great for me

Migsel's mounts are top quality. I believe he's working on one to fit the 2008 GSA at the moment. It might be worth sending him an email.

Gday, BMW do a mount for the ZUMO part no BC 71607699082..... about $70 aussie, they look better than the ram unit, although the ram brings the ZUMO within easier reach........

Does the Zumo vibrate? I tried fitting the Touratech mounting bar to the upper mount and my 2720 vibrated like crazy. After a couple of days I moved it back to the left bar on a RAM mount.
Much better position than on the screen anyway. No vibration, I can reach the buttons and screen easily and the windscreen is not onstructed.

Your Zumo setup is a bit 'in your face' on that long arm. IMHO.

I have the BMW mount, which places the Zumo neatly against the upstand bar (or whatever it is called)

:D

The reason I have the mount above centre is, I do not have to move my eyes much while riding. I believe it is dangerous to look away from the road while riding. All the Dakar bikes have more gear up front than a GPS and they can race with all this gear.

GPS mount

It certainly looks a very complicated method of doing a very simple job; My GPS is monted on a very solid alloy block - they were produced by Motorrad Concepts, now out of business....but I think someone else is continuing to produce them;

Buy the BMW mount for about £15-£20. The garmin supplied mount should bolt straight to it (the 2610 does).

By placing mine on the left bar it is right next to the clock in my field of view so needs less eye movement than looking in the rear mirror and does not obscure my view ahead. Unlike Dakar riders I sometimes "get my head down" to keep the rain off so don't want a big grey brick right in front of me.

Having sat on one of Simon Pavey's Dakar bikes I can't remember any of the mass of kit being as high as the top bar of an Adventure screen.

Had the same set up as you with my zumo mounted on the screen brace. I found a couple of real issues:

1: Bad vibration because of the screen bar and ball/ram mount.
2: Easily nickable (even with the Touratat lockable mount) because anyone can undo the ball joint and I didn`t want to keep taking the cradle off.

I bought a Migsel mounting unit which is beautifully made and cures all the issues. It`s in just the right place, it`s solid, no vibes and looks spot on.

I`ll get some pics later on. Just off to look at the 800GS "girls bike"....!!

The view through the screen is terrible plus you would have to be almost flat on the gas tank to do this.

Pics of the Migsel GPS mount on the ADV screen brace. I have the Touratech lockable cradle as well. I think it looks neat and tidy and is tucked into the screen out of the way!!
