G'day,

I have just fitted an Adv tank to the 12GS and it works great with the exception of one problem. The fuel gauge reads zero and flashes empty even though there is plenty of fuel and in every other respect it works. Took it for a test ride and everything.

The tank came with the original fuel pump, etc so I didn't need to transfer the innards.

I have checked the two electrical fuel pump connectors (left-hand side) and there are no bent pins, etc.

Any idea what might be wrong? :nenau

Hello Bob,

Is that the tank that was on EBay being sold by Richard Mawer? I seem to recall it had all the bits inside it so it should have been a straight fit.

I did the same conversion and had the same issue as you, gauge reading empty when I filled it up for the first time. I had done about 150 miles on it and I was waiting until it was almost empty so that I could take a look at everything, but it suddenly started to work on its own accord. I am wondering if the float that sends readings to the gauge just needed to settle down. How many times have you filled the tank up?

Bob,

Yes it is the tank off ebay with all the bits inside. I've only filled it up once which was yesterday in fact.

Hopefully mine will start working as well otherwise I will check out insides.

Many thanks,

Bob

my adventure reads empty for a while after filling up. sometimes i have to wait until i'm actually underway before it wises up.

Does the range not show something believeable straight away unless the fuel light was on? Only done it the once (refuel above the light on), and after a few miles the range was believable again, ie more than 100 miles with a full tank.
