I myself favour cycling shorts with shammy leather padding, offering I believe unrivalled control and real world comfort.

I've given up the cycling shorts as not offering any real benefit as they also reduce the inside leg measurement ever so slightly.

I've also given up cotton almost completely for any and all garments at all times.

Boxer shorts are Helly Hansen, Rohan, Lowe Alpine or REI at all times, not just on the bike.

Personally I believe these to be the ultimate choice, combining all the best features that modern materials and technology can offer:

- the same padding as the average cycling shorts
- disposable at the end of a long fast ride behind Madmountainman
- even with my ADV tank fitted I no longer need to stop for a p*ss
