Dear all I collect my new Gsa in the new year, I havnt had any comms fitted yet. the bike will be fitted with a Garmin 550.
Regarding comms I want to speak with the pillion, both of us listen to the Ipod, the Gps will be a bonus and not really bothered about the mobile.
I want somthing easy to use and not masses of wiring everywhere, can someone suggest somthing, as i may be able to get it fitted prior to picking it up. I can see autocom have some new products and if GSrich can come up with some ideas please.

Thanks

Welcome to the site Nelly :thumb

I do exactly what you want to do using Autocom. works pretty well, includes the Satnav , and pretty easy to fit yourself ;)

If you wanted a professional install Autocom are not a million miles away from you and do a fitting service..

an alternative is to get yourself a pair of scala q2s

Does everything you require there but all wirelessly. Sneaky way to use the ipod though then is to use an fm transmitter (same things you get to use with your car) and tune the fm radio on the scala headset to match the transmitter frequency). Has the added benefit of bike to bike as well.

We used to used wired intercomms but "she" kept forgetting to unplug all the time lol. Price works out at £200 for the pair which is around about what a full autocomm set up would cost?

If you wanted to go down the wireless route but can wait a few months though ... wait... because rumour has it a new version of longer range bluetooth is coming out ... also the headsets controls are being optimised/simplified.

thanks

Im in no rush so thanks and will wait to see what comes out hopefully somthing nice and easy to use.

Did anyone else try that bmw communication system at the nec? Sorry cant remember what it was called. It was very impressive though! Buy so far only intended for their "road" helmets. Not the enduro helmet... which is a shame.

In theory wireless is wonderful! In practice you run up against battery life problems and need to have chargers for everything if you are away from home for more than a days ride.

I use cables with a system from here:-

Great sound but you have to be prepared to tolerate the cables.
