Hello everyone - feel a bit of a saddo writing this but here goes - I'm a sports bike rider (i know) i've always loved my big bikes and had lots - crashed lots too !!

However, my 'first' big bike was a honda transalp back in 1996 and i loved it did a few trails on it but it got part x'd for a sports bike and it's all i've had since then but . .

I'm looking at changing and was thinking of a 800GS i did have a test ride about 5 yr ago on a 1150 adventure and found it a hoot - just couldn't justify the extra dosh at the time to trade up from an R1

A few things
1) what's the social scene like with these bikes? My riding pal moved to canada so my bike has mainly been used for commuting and the odd hoon up to kielder / lakes
2) Are there ANY trail type routes you can take these things these days local to North East?
3) Are they really as good as they look?
4) Will i keep my licence cleaner for longer?

You need to try a few others too, the 1200 obviously but try some non BMW's to be sure of what you're getting.

There's always someone up for a ride out, keep an eye on this section.

Yup, have a day out with Petcul of this parish.

I'd had sports bikes for over 20 years, I've road raced, been a track day instructor and still like the occasional "spirited ride" the only bike for me is a GS....any of them.

Yes, if you pick your roads.

Welcome aboard, you won't regret it:thumb2

1) no, anyone who rides a GS is a tosser.
(does the social scene actually bother you?)

2,3,4) yes, yes, yes.
