Hi All,

I need to get to Welshpool in June. Any tips from experts in the Midlands on how to tweak this for a more enjoyable ride would be very welcome.

Thanks.

Too much of the A5/Shrewsbury Bypass dual carriageway there, fast if you're in a hurry, but boring.

Once you're across the M6, head for Whitchurch, then either straight to Ellesmere or via Wem, nice country roads all the way. I tend to pick up the A525 after a visit to DK in Newcastle under Lyme, which is a nice run to Whitchurch, B5476 to Wem, B5063 to Ellesmere, all well signposted. From there towards Oswestry and then Welshpool, enjoy the ride.

Off at Junction 10. 👍

I very much dislike the A5 Shrewsbury bypass, so always go through town. Something to look at and you can travel over the English Bridge and Welsh bridge. You know where you that way 😉
