Advice on Webhosting.

Elvie and I have been running a couple of Blogs for a few years on Blogger. She's just finished a photographic 365 project, and has been disappointed at the lack of facilities on Blogger for exporting the blog.
This led us to thinking about having greater control of the blogs in future, and are thinking of going down the Wordpress.org route, and as such we are currently looking at hosting solutions.
I think I saw a thread not so long ago on the site recommending a Webhosting company with links to a member here, but for the life of me I can't find it via the search facility. I was hoping that someone could point me in the direction of the post or Webhost, and I would also be grateful for any other advice other peeps may have. Many thanks in advance for any help.

Th company you've seen here are Fast2Host, run by our very own Steve Currell.

They do a discount of 15% for subscribed UKGSers, and they even have a (literally) one button push installation system for WP using Installatron, so there's no mucking about with setting up your own MySql databases, no FTP to get your head around to start off with and no mess whatsoever

I registered a domain, signed up for a hosting account, got my discount and had a WP install all set up and working inside 15 minutes the other day

Their support systems are superb (you'll often find yourself talking to Steve himself if you use the online help chat on the web page) and I honestly can't fault them

If you want to be a real cheapo: Go here http://www.000webhost.com/. It's free and offers most if not everything paid hosts do.

I use ipowerweb.com - $7.95 / month, lower for new business. Unlimited space and bandwidth.

Downside is that they have swallowed the EU request and now charge VAT at the rate of the country you live in
Pisses me off because they cant pay it to the EU so just take it as extra profit.

That aside, top service. They do WP as well... I use Textpattern.
