advice on where to load the tent

I did a very strange thing with my tent last year on a trip to France, I popped it in a pannier, has anyone else thought, done or tested this method :nenau
I have to admit it isnt a 8 person tent but my method worked, may try it again next time, I may even pop it the other pannier :blagblah

Tent in a roll bag + other stuff on one pannier, sleeping bags in a roll bag on the other, top box on the back and pillion has an "arm chair".

Keep the weight as low as possible it helps when trying to keep it upright at very low speed or stationary.

I haven't had 7 pints of @Pride, no Rioja, in fact no booze of any kind today.

Excuse me whilst I go and rectify that situation.

Stick yer fecking pillion in a pannier then. You need the space. :beerjug:

FOr strapping... go to a local chandlers (to be found in industrial units as well) and buy a few meters of webbing... you could even get those black plastic snap together connectors as well... like you find on the waist strap for back packs... also to be found at cotswolds!

Wherever and however it will not fall off, might seem a good place to start.

Use the smallest amount of imagination, please.

PS Yup, I have had a remarkably fine afternoon at lunch. Seven pints of Pride, a decent slug of Rioja, two large stickies, a steak (with trimmings) and a stewed cheese. Just in case anyone was in the slightest bit interested.

London Pride with Rioja! Guaranteed to get me shouting for Hughie down the toilet

As for the tent strapping, I would leave the top box at home and invest in an Ortlieb waterproof bag and a couple of rok straps. Fill the bag with the awkward/light stuff like sleeping bags/mats, tent etc and strap it to the plate the top box is fitted to. If you're taking the missus, you'll need the room. :thumb2
