advice on where to load the tent

Try to keep weight low and to the centre of the bike.
Can you split the parts of the tent up and distribute it between panniers and top-box?
I'm assuming you're 2-up and Wapping is rat-arsed.

I no its probly a stupid question to those that have been biking for years

gotta give the oldies sumthing to moan about :rob:rob

What has riding bikes for years got to do with the ability of applying simple common sense ????.

Hold tent in arms - stand in front of bike - open eyes and look at bike - see somewhere that looks promising to carry a tent ? put tent in the promising space and see if it fits - if it doesn't fit carry on looking/trying until it does -it won't take too long as there really is feck all choice apart from the rear rack or on top of the panniers - .

Thats full on adventure biking and you haven't even left the house yet.

Yep. He's actually staying in a B&B but wants the tent on the bike because he's seen it in the brochure.

Assumption one is correct, as detailed above.

Assumption two, less so. A good lunch but nothing exceptional. :beerjug:

Away wi ye!

7 pints o'pride and a smidge of tinto and my judgement would be impaired let alone that of a shiney-arsed southerner.

:P

I'm awaiting the announcement of a BMW Tent, that's designed to strap to BMW panniers, enables you to call BMW ES to put up the Tent, take down and repack when required. Trouble is it'll need some electrical gizmo as well, LED lighting powered off the AUX socket would be a starter.

Call your dealer and DEMAND a BMW tent... because you're an Adventurer and need to camp anywhere (within reach of BMW ES)...

Cost? Gotta be in region of £1.2K. If you can fit a SO into a pannier and you can fit 2-3 people into a tent, that's the price of a pannier x3 + 300 for any reason your loving dealer says.

1150 owners and older get a groundsheet instead of a tent (looks like a german beach towel)... and be thankful for that. Cost about £10.

1.2k I hope it will be available on an options scheme... to make it more affordable to the masses....:augie
