Advice please on Fuel availability in France, Spain and Portugal. Leaving 15th May 26

Excellent….. to quote ish a film

We’re gonna need a bigger bookshelf

I hope they produce a downloadable version for my smartphone in .pdf format, handy for travel.

I can lay there worrying each night in my French hotels as I scroll through page after page of terrifying continental strangeness.

You won’t be able to read it.

Electricity is in short supply in Europe.

If it’s any comfort to the OP, I filled up a 90 litre tank with diesel in France on my return from Belgium on Monday.

1. I had no preconceived notion that there might be a problem obtaining fuel when across the Channel.

2. All of the filling stations I passed, whether on a motorway or country road or in a town, were open and no busier than normal.

There again, at a smidge over EUR 2 a litre for basic diesel, I’m not surprised that bods were not queuing to snap-up a bargain.
So do you think the insider dealing information I received to put all my investments, savings and pension fund into the new P.L.U.T.O scheme, yet to be announced, might not be as good as I hoped it would be?

what about Italy ? can you get fuel there ?
Well we’re going to Italy (obviously not all of it) on Sunday for a few days. Will it be better to fill up in France before crossing the border? Providing France still has fuel by then of course. After that we will be travelling north, going through France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Will we get fuel in all, some or none of these third world nations?
Will wetting the bed help? 😂😂😂

Wetting the bed is compulsory drill prior to departure.

Best advice to anyone thinking of going, dont!
I need to make sure there is plenty fuel left for my foray in a weeks time…. ;)

Not sure if I’m allowed to post this but here goes. I’d appreciate advice regarding fuel shortages or otherwise in the following locations. We start from St Malo, head down to Royan, Biarritz then across to Potes in the Picos and on to Santiago del Compostela, Lisbon, Gibraltar, Valencia, Girona, Orleans and back to St Malo. We are using motorway and B roads.

It would be great if site users could advise the locations where we may find shortages. We are travelling from 15th to 31st May 26.

Thanks for any assistance.

Regards
John

I’ve moved it from Trip Reports for you.

Generally speaking, as long as you stick to petrol stations you'll be fine.

Restaurants, hairdressers, bakers, etc., less so.

Dear Lord please make it stop. Some on here get more pathetic by the day.

I was sick on the bus once
We went to an ice show at wembley arena on a bus when we were kids, one kid at the back puked up, every time the driver braked the puke moved slowly forward along the aisle, the stench triggered other kids further along the bus to puke as well, it was like a wave breaking on the beach, the driver had to stop in the end so that the teacher could clean it up by sweeping it to the front and out the door, luckily it was on the way home. Bleurgh... I'm nearly wretching thinking about it now...
