Hello
Please can I call on the wisdom of the community for some expert advice on the value of my R100GS which I want to put up for sale. As you see it's not your typical standard model.

1994 R100GS
Owned by me for 10 years. Very little use in recent years but it has been to Morocco and the Stella Alpina.
With a new front tyre I'd happily do a similar trip again tomorrow.
Currently in Ireland, on Irish plates. Originally a UK bike so can be re-imported free of charge AFAIK

Always carefully serviced. I've replaced starter motor, bean can and rotor .
Running well, no smoke or oil leaks.
Recent service and annual oil\filter change, new battery.
Paintwork has a few marks.

Lots of paperwork. MOTs, invoices, original handbook and service book
Prepared by previous owner for overland trip that never took place. Receipts from Cray Engineering

Four pot caliper and braided hose
Low front mudguard also available
Suspension: Rear Ohlins and front progressive springs.
Heated grips,
Speedo working
Large Plastic tank (HPN or Acerbis, I've forgotten which) , re-located oil cooler (plus spare bypass hose)
Bespoke bull bars (OEM bull bars available)
Modded side-stand - which is a gem!
Muskat y-piece from NZ
Touratech: seat, handguards, bash plates, pannier racks
LED rear light.

Loads of spares: Rotor, diode board, ignition module, HES, service kits, gaskets, wheel bearings, alternator brushes, heavier Ohlins spring

I know testing the market is the only way to determine the value but where to pitch the price?
Advice welcome - based on Euro or Sterling. Thanks.

For a moment this morning I think I knew how a punter on the Antiques Roadshow feels when told he has a previously unknown Turner.
If anyone else would like to pitch in please go ahead .. or by PM if you prefer 'cos I'm none the wiser at the moment.

PS That seat is of course for a leprauchan not a midget.

[EDIT] If anyone wants to view the bike .. just make your way to Cork City and I'll collect you.

I think JB is a bit over the top here. Whilst prices are climbing it seems for any old tosh....very good ones can be found. I have just paid £5890 for a late GS100PD with 37k on the clock and in excellent original condition.....pick it up next week. Some dealers have what appear to be good examples for £6k plus but they do not see, to be moving.

Yours has updated suspension and other nice bits....but not the original tank by the sound of it. My view would be the number starts with a 4..... possibly £4500.

GLWTS

Take all the extras off it (Nobody wants a modified bike, they just want standard and as cheap as possible) sell the bits separately! With the caliper and tank etc off it start at £3950. (DAMHIK) Sell the spares separately as well.

I see that there is an R100GSPD for sale on Donedeal.ie (vintage section) for €10,800.
It will be interesting to see if that moves.

I spotted the PD on DD last night when I was doing some research. It does look nice.
My local friendly bike shop reckoned he'd ask €5900Euro for my bike in the shop; just based on a casual viewling the bike.
So maybe JB's estimate isn't so far off after all. (hat tip)

Mileage: 46k miles by my records but not verifiable. The dial wheels on the odometer have been failing gradually.
Speedo and trip meter work perfectly - surprisingly.

[EDIT] I think it would look better with the low front mudguard.

Nice usable GS with some good mods and lowish miles. If your friendly dealer can get you the money why not give it a try, you never know. If not I would tend to go with what Arkwright said but maybe try £4500. I also think it would look better with the low mudguard.

Putting it back to standard is not an option - no original parts alas.
The man in the local bike shop wasn't offering to broker a sale. Just making a helpful suggestion.

Great fun riding it today but lost the cap and bolt on the throttle bar-end. Bugger!
I think I should replace the front tyre or at least re-balance the wheel.
Thanks for all the input. I should get a move on before my insurance renewal. (€45 admin charge to remove a bike from the policy! For reducing their risk.)

There is a big variation in the actual selling price of these particular bikes , and , "notional Values" .
The Prime determining factor is the Vendor.
You either "Want" to sell the Goods or you "Dont" , there is also the "Maybe" factor .
I think these are a pretty well thought out piece of machinery , i have a bit of a penchant for these , i have a few .
I watch the Market , as far as these go .
The Actual market for these is small . If your selling in Ireland its really small . The Uk market is much larger ,but in the past have a marked tendency not to travel .
IF you want to Sell , you will get between Eur 3 to 4 , Readily . If your thinking of selling , you may get Eur 4 to 5 , but you are really looking for a particular chap . I do not believe that Eur6 is a realistic figure at all , for that kinda money you would pick up a Mint
original bike . Euro in Ireland ,, Gbp in UK. =
Just sayin like .
Unlike the other commentators , i am in the Market .

There's a truth to this. The market here in Ireland is much smaller and so bikes just don't fetch the same money as they do in the UK. I guess advertising it in the UK
might be a good idea if you want to get as much as you can and expand your viewing market.

Thats all you would be doing ,,Expanding the Viewing market . The Englanders are very reluctant travelers .
