Help really confused. have an XT660 that costs me £110 a month. really really really want an F800gs. monthly payments would be £140 a month. Been self employed for 6 months now so income isnt certain. common sence tells me to stick with the xt for another year or so till my work stables out. wife has had enough of me going on about it so thought i would ask you lot for your advice although it may be more BMW orientated. please help

If you can't afford it, don't do it.

Not the advice you were wanting to hear but there you go.

Keep the dream alive though and look after your wife - when things get more certain in your job, then go do it...:rob

+1 on that

I bought my bike new last year before the credit crunch struck hard. I cant really afford it, paying the bike leaves me with little spending cash. In hindsight it was an "bought with my heart and not the head" moment, and wouldnt do it again now. Id buy second hand with a small loan or credit card, or better yet saved dosh!

Everyone needs to keep spending tho or the country really will collapse

you have to ask yourself why you really really need a gs.

seriously, it wont do anything your xt cant do
it wont make you any richer
it will cause you heartache cos its a bmw

if its the badge you desire, as much as the bike, get a old airhead gs, classic, original, and you will get plenty of kudos too:)

a 800, na stick with the xt:)

thanks for all your common sense advice. I know it makes sense to stick with mine. it will give me something to aim for next year. may treat myself for my 30th.
