Advice pls on heightening seat...

I am quite tall (6ft4inches) and am looking to get my R1200 GS '04 seat heightened (by the foam within the seat being plumped up/added to).

All threads talk about James Sherlock being the best supplier.
However, I live in London and wondered if anyone had a recommendation within the South East area?

Am hopng to sort it for under £100 and any advice on how many inches I should get it raised vs. inside leg measurement would be great.

What about a gsa seat ?

Taller than a gs seat, you can then keep the other as standard.

Hi,

My first BMW was a standard GS, I, like you am 6' 4" and will experience similar issues. I opted for the Adventure seat when I bought the bike as that seat is higher than the standard seat. I imagine you have issues with the seat to peg height as I did. I would also imagine that if you could get the seat cushion increased you might then have difficulty getting your leg over to get on the bike. I've replaced my GS last November with a GSA model with the ESA suspesion and when I have it set to the height for one up with full luggage getting on and off the bike is a struggle sometimes possibly due to my heavy build.

I would try a GSA seat from your local BWM dealer first before you splash out on seat remodelling.

Used these people once for another bike and they were very good. The man knows his foam.

Went down there with the seat to discuss what I wanted. Left it with them and received it back in the post 4 days later

John1215 I have the GSA with preload set to rider plus luggage and have no trouble swinging a leg over, so to speak. Plus I don't believe the preload affects the unladen height of the bike so will be the same height to swing a leg over between rider, rider plus luggage, 2-up plus luggage. It's when you change to offroad when the height of the bike raises up. Put it into extreme offroad and then try swinging your leg over

I'll have to check mine. I thought that all ESA did between 1-up, 1-up plus luggage, and 2-up plus luggage was increase preload which only alters how much the shock compresses under load, and does not alter shock travel/height
I know it definately raises up if I put it into offroad, you can visibly see it going up. I've not noticed it with the different road preloads (ie 1-up etc), but as I said I'll check mine tonight.

Near brands hatch, can reshape your seat and add a gel insert to improve comfort for around £100.

Checked mine tonight, doesn't move changing between 1-up, 1-up plus luggage and 2-up plus luggage, at least not that I can see. Visibly moves up on going to off road though.
