Hi guys have'nt been in here often, but i could do with some advice from the darkside.Sold my 1150 GSA bought a GTR big mistake looking to come back to an adventure bike.Tested 1200gsa,1200gs and today tested a 990Adventure which im liking alot.Iv read lots here and checked out roadtest reports but want to know what this bike is really like to live with. The one i tested was an 09 and iv read that the earlier ones have iffy fueling?can that be sorted easy ie with end cans etc.The 09 bike didnt feel to vibey what are the earlier ones like.Im looking as using it mainly as a tourer, european trip once a year and long weekends away, the one iv got my eye on is an 07 with 5000miles and fktmsh, what should i be looking out for? thanks guys any help would be great......:Motomartin

Moved over to the orange side just over a month ago. Was very taken by the 09 demo bike which has some minor refinements over the 08 model. These are mainly (I think) to do with the engine, including slightly more power and better fuel injection.

TBH I personally couldn’t tell the difference and as the dealer had a 08 bike in stock with only 1400k on it, plus some nice extras (ackros and hot grips), the choice was made. It was also £1500 cheaper than he would have wanted for the 09 demo bike.

Was also able to afford a full set of hard (Gobi) luggage for touring etc. It’s made by Hepco and Becker and is top quality.

For me (as you have already mentioned) the only downside is the slightly flakey FI which occurs between 3-4k rpm. Apparently a G2 throttle cam helps this a lot and costs about £75. It’s on my next ‘to do’ list.

The Mrs doesn’t find it as comfortable as the GS but with lots of options to tweak the/her suspenders I am on the case!!

Err… and lastly it’s also not as economical as the GS, made worse by the ackro map in my case. Bikes with the standard cans are better - although with a cat in each can they run very hot, are much heavier and don’t sound as good as the ackros.

Lots of good info on the UK KTM Forum and Orange Crush on Adv Rider.

It’s a fun, feel good bike with ‘laugh out loud’ sweeeeeeeet V Twin propulsion.

Good luck with whatever you choose.
