Advice needed I have a 2005 gs with alloy
Wheels and I want to get them painted or powder
Coated what’s the best option and where do I get them done

Powder coating will be the most durable, look for a local company that will strip & aqua-blast, mask properly prior to coating.

Depending on colour, Metallics can be done 2 ways either powder coated, or filler primed “powder coat process” wet coat HOT with a water based paint......then lacquered with a clear powder lacquer.

My company is Polytech Powdercoating Ltd, Wickford, Essex. Have a look on our Facebook page, If you need any info don’t hesitate to ask.

We are more industrial, we do wheels occasionally, but companies that specialise in wheels & smaller parts should provide a good quality finish

Kind regards

Liam

want the paint to stay on ? i blast, anodise, then paint parts . not a cheap way to refurb something ( may cost more than straight replacement ? )
BUT the paint stays on , not doing it this way paint falls off after 3 years or so.

blaster gets a job

anodiser gets a job, that is clean and ready to go ( colour doesn't matter cos you are painting )

painter gets a job , but has little prep to do.

FYI i have just had 4 wheels re-furbed by Wheels Approved in Addlestone, appreciate they are not close to you but I was recommended to them as I have seen their work and they do a cracking job. They were working on Ducati rims, Zonda and many very valuable vehicles. There are a lot of companies that do refurbs but I would advise using someone who has been recommended. The chap I dealt with was Dan and my 911 wheels look superb.

Should post before and after shots in case other members are thinking of repainting their wheels
Good luck

I’ve not had bike wheels refurbed but Platinum Alloys in Swindon did a cracking job on my car wheels, they were better than new and the finish is lasting well.
