ADVrider needs help.

I remember reading something on here about adding ghost miles. Sounds like he needs to get to the dealers sooner than later and get them to check the bike over!

Sorry not being rude but why post here... it's not like he's in the UK and we can give hands on help plus there are plenty of 1200 problems out there why post this one from another forum:nenau

I just think that given the body of knowledge about strange happenings with BMWs somebody here might have an idea. It's probably happened before!

Also, since given the time difference not a lot of people stateside are going to be on the forums.

I ride a 1200 in Malaysia, and get help from both forums, don't see why we can't help out a biker anywhere....

Remind me to cancel my subscription next time around.....the guy is a subscriber

I hope that this comment would never appear in the Airhead section

Not a very biker friendly comment, I thought we where a worldwide community.

First of all... Rosahane my apologies as this reply is not directly aimed at you but more the type of post this is.

I've no problem with physically helping out guys from other forums when they are stuck in the UK/Ireland or the person themselves asks a question after having looked hard and found no answer.
But this one seemed strange it's not the person with the problem or a mate AFAIK asking the question, it's a question on another forum and the guy lives on the other side of the world.
Was a possible answer not available on ADVrider if a proper search was done:nenau or was it just laziness on the original poster on ADVrider that he didn't search their site in the first place or laziness on the referring poster that they didn't do a proper search for an answer.

There are at least 10 other forums out there that are GS related and every one of them will have 100's of people asking questions about their bike problems... do we all just cross link these from forum to forum the minute we spot a question..

At the moment our own site will have likely have already posted the answers in past threads to about 3/4 of the new problem questions that get asked on our site.... mainly because the person wanting to know the answer is too lazy to search for more than 10 mins.

You'll find the likes of Steptoe, Cookie, Proff, Rob Farmer,Jaythro and a few others having to repeat themselves again and again or doing the search themselves to answer a question that may well have been answered loads of times in the past.

Basicly some people are lazy and want others to do all the research work for them, we have enough of them on here without more from other sites.

If genuine help is needed and the guy has tried hard to find the answer without results i've no problem... but when it's laziness to do the research i think it abuses and takes advantage of others helpful natures.

...back to the topic, I'd guess the guy is seeing a failure of one of the speed sensors that (I'm guessing) are dual purpose ABS speed sensors and speedo/odo sensor - hence the failure in both systems. :?

From his thread, it's been sorted, and was the usual problem of a duff battery ;)

Lets hope no one in Ireland needs help and advice in the future

Yep.

Trippy I'm replying to you in a separate post as it doesn't deserve a reply in the same post

You've proved yet again you are Shit stirring .i. of the highest order as you've proved on the likes of the Jessica Hill for Miss England thread and others more intent of getting a dig in at me than helping out... you've burned bridges with people like Proff and they have now seen what you're truly like... all that's left for you seems to be the club site... it shouldn't take long before you start stirring in there too..... move on and give it a rest don't be a .i. all your life ;)

I'll have to re-read that thread and see where exactly I did the shit stirring

Bad news about Keith though, I guess you know more than me and I won't be welcome at his house next week then, that must be why he tried to call yesterday :(

Thats all.

Folks,

I had no wish to start a row or a even a debate!

The guy was somewhere between Utah and California, so it was probably about five in the morning for him. Unlikely to be many ADV riders online at that time. He had searched but could find nothing that matched. I just thought that there were probably a few Tossers online who might be able to point him in the right direction.

Anyway, he seems to be sorted so can we leave it at that please.

Tom
