Hi

Like everyone else my Nav V's memory is full with 7GB of European Maps. I am heading to Chile next week and the organisers of my tour have sent me a micro sd card with all of our routes, hotels, fuel stops, places of interest etc. I stuck the card in, imported all of the data into Basecamp and lo and behold I seem to have all the info on the nav. I stuck it in my GS cradle to check and whilst I can call the routes up and view the maps, when I tried to load the first days route it got to 6% then failed. I tried this will all 17 routes and got the same results. Is this anything to do with the fact that I am on the other side of the world and when I get there it will be fine or am I missing some fundamental bit of the jigsaw?? As the title states I am pretty clueless and am at that age where instructions just make me more confused.

If anyone can offer any advice I'd be very grateful. :help

Cheers

Rob

If I had to guess:

Guess 1. You have asked your device to plot you a route to the start of the route you are trying to load. It's struggling with the inevitable.

Guess 2. You have loaded the South American data (routes, fuel stops, PoI etc) but not the maps

If only it was as easy as that. If Iclick on map instead of route on the device it shows me the route on the map of chile so I guess it's not option 2. With regard to option 2, I tried to load from the second waypoint rather than the first but got the same result. Confused!!

Could still be lack of maps and it's just displaying the basemap Zoom in to check the detail. In order for the routes to work you would need full mapping. I doubt they sent you those on the card as they would need to be unlocked to work.

As above you may only have the routes and will need the maps to go with them for them to work correctly

Report back when you have ascertained that you have the detailed South American map loaded on your device and that they are fully activated.

As regards the rest. Are you very sure you are not trying to navigate to the second waypoint and onwards down the route from there, all from the comfort of your Edinburgh house?

Thanks for all the advice, it's much appreciated. I have ascertained that the unit is indeed trying to calculate a route from my house to the start in Chile so even the Nav V isn't that clever. I have zoomed into the routes on my unit and all the detail of towns, streets etc are there so I guess I'm good to go and it will be tickety boo when I get over the pond. I have Reise maps as well by the way but thanks for the tip.

Cheers :beerjug:

Always go with guess 1 :thumb
