AF-XIED for R1200 LC

Could have been me keith trying to get a helicopter to get my AF-XIED,s would have been quicker this way, 7 days in customs, what do the Germans think is inside these black boxes.............:D

Hopefully they arrive soon so that this can go back to being an AF-XIED thread.

Getting back to AF-XEID's, whats the recommended setting for a 2018 Euro4 R1200GSA? I'm currently running on 7, should I bump it to 8?

Seems everyone has their own preferences from what I read some are running on 7 some on 8, and some have dropped to 6 give it a try it is the only way, you cannot do any harm, give it a few tanks of petrol first on each setting, and also depends how you ride.

I was going to give the AF-XIEDs a go...then realised it would buy my son the new mountain bike he needs...reality kicked in and the mountain bike won!

Needs must and wise decision, most bikes are fine anyway, and your son will be happy....:beerjug:

I did the throttle reset at the weekend out of curiosity. Deffo made a difference to the mid range hole. Or at least it felt that way. It was free too and explains a few things I’ve read on here.

I look forward to the af-xied review when u get it fitted

Less likely any new peeps will become mtc cream customers now as the Mtc distributers have apparently ceased trading it as they couldn’t find the invisible stock and the manufacturer is on extended hols far far away over the rainbow by all accounts.

It would be good if people checked facts before posting points like this one above. I was at HT yesterday and he is fit and well and trading as normal. There were bikes there from local areas, London as well as me from way up north. I saw three bikes done including my 1250. The other 2 went and rode their bikes before coming back to pay. Both very happy with the improved fuelling and throttle feel.

I had a long chat with Geoff having been going there since 2013. He is happy to explain what he does and why, but also why he doesn’t do what some on here think he should. I am not going to discuss his points on here as it is his business information, but it made a lot of sense to me. Then again I have obviously been so severely conned and addicted to his placebo effect, that I keep going back, having had 5 bikes done now. Michael Rutter recently had him working on his Honda RCV for the Macau GP. Would you trust a £230,000 race bike with someone who is a fraud!!

My bikes fuelling didn’t feel bad before but it has had a full exhaust without cat, and a free flowing air filter fitted so I wanted to be sure it was ok. It is even smoother now and my fuel consumption went from 56.5 on journey down to 60.1 for the way back on 400 mile round trip . Same speeds, route and traffic levels and sticking to all limits.

And fittingly you are from Berkshire ..:aidan

Another factually incorrect post, which is a bit of a theme from your short time on here!

Hopefully they arrive soon so that this can go back to being an AF-XIED thread.

Roger, you are clearly expert in this area and people respect your knowledge and opinions, however you have contributed numerous times on HT threads about AF-XIED's so I don't think you can complain when the reverse happens :beerjug:

Would be nice Roger, any new technical updates to look forward to.......:beerjug: hopefully should get mine next week very excited to test them out.

Yes indeed, hoping you are very pleased with the route you have chosen to go down! Fingers crossed German customs release them soon!

Couldn’t sleep, Geoff?

Wind in the face and wind behind can help fuelling I believe, also uphill and downhill, Northumberland to your destination is straight up and down I believe, so it would be hard to measure fuelling unless you done exactly or similar road with wind conditions being in the same angle.....:nenau:nenau

The “circle”is back in town then. Smogbob are you going to dyno your bike pre/post af-axied ?

Bollocks to that, I will just go with my simple throttle feeling, I have been riding bikes for enough years to know, if any change is there, will not know if there is any more speed as hardly take the bike to its limits, but if it feels smoother and a tad less jumpy, even a tad cooler, then it will have achieved all that I need.

I get that totally, but then the people who have had invisible cream swear they can feel the change just from the riding experience. But that objectivity is questioned hence why I asked.
But ultimately the only person that needs to be satisfied is the rider I guess.

Well I am only talking about the AF-XIEDS and we know fact they change the fuelling because they actually interact in the O2 sensors, and you set the fuelling parameters to the desired setting that suits your riding style better, 6,7 or 8 for some, so depending on these settings the bike will either feel better, worse or no change at all at the beginning as it takes a few tanks of fuel and a good 1000 miles for some to find the optimum setting for themselves, obviously giving the bike if new a chance first to settle in, as I have done, my bike is fairly new has 3500 kms so settled in, more would be better but I would like to try now, and see what difference is made, if I feel no difference that does not mean the AF-XIEDS do not work, it might just be my riding style needs changing a little, because as we all agree the clever ECU on the new LC,s adapts as it goes along, so lets wait and see, one thing for sure I will not be able to say for at least a few months, as I still do not have them, and then need the time to ride out a while to test them, but many have already done that so I feel confident in the future...
