Africa Twin farkles list

I see some folk mounting satnavs to the screen brace, other than a smaller U bolt for a RAM mount, what have people used ?

I had my SW-Motech q/r mount bolted to the screen brace before moving it down to the handlebars.

Why ? Lack of strength in the screen brace ? It would sit just right for me if I were able to site it on the brace but I won't if it means I end up busting stuff.

Several reports of GPS units breaking the crossbrace which is why I moved mine. To be fair, most of the breakages seem to be with US and Aussie riders who do far more off roading than we have the capability off here. Honda had also turned down warranty claims too which was another reason for me to swop position. I've got used to glancing downwards now, but no doubt it is much better mounted in the higher position.

Thanks, I'll never take it off road so I'll see what's at the NEC tomorrow that'll do (Zumo 390) :rob

On the GSA the OEM screen brace is not quite high enough so sat nav covers top of speedo.
Chances are Honda will be similar.

I tend to use the GPS speedo over the bikes (or cars) but I've seen other ATs with GPS and non seem to obscure the screen. :thumb

I bought the BMW S1000XR fitting kit, it works a treat, but I'm using a BMW Nav V unit, same mount as a Garmin Zumo 660.

Had an hour spare sunday so had a play with this old stubby can. Was great fun :D

God, that wouldn't get on your tits much on a 300 mile road ride.

sounds awesome, looks not so awesome! Reminds me of the cans you see on those 25hp scooters in france that the 14 year olds ride. Sorry...

Right back to my handguard issues (can't find where I posted it) but basically the extra metal clip that stops the left hand parking brake from hitting the handguard, dislodged a small micro switch that moves in and out of the switch housing, turning the dash parking light on/off. Anyhow, I took it in to honda and they replaced the switch FOC and at the same time installed my koso grips. I asked them to rotate the grips so the switch would not impeded the paddle access on thumb side. So they installed it directly inline with the indicator switch. So it has to go back. After using the bike for 1 day, I used the parking brake once. Soon as I released the parking brake, the parking light stayed on again. Told Honda and they said they'd look at it at the same time as they fixed the heated grip. Got a call today to say the barkbuster metal thing is causing the switch pushrod thing to bend and it requires a new switch. I can honestly say I used the hand brake once, so I don't think Honda tested this before I collected. Anyway, seeing as I damaged the first one, and now another one has gone, I am wondering if the metal thing from BB is bent/not in tolerance? Also that I am liable for the new switch that's now on order. So has anyone else had a parking light issue when installing the BB guards?

Not mine.

Barkbuster handguards fitted myself on DCT Africa Twin and all works perfectly.

No parking light, parking brake sited correctly.

All good.

Ordered some more Farkles today

- Kriega OS-18 Soft luggage
- SW moto Pillion Seat Rack (Black)

next, need to order....

- Altrider Headlight Mesh Guard (black)
- Rugged Roads Radiator Guards (black)
- Garmin Satnav power mount and bracket
- Reinforcement bar for sat nav

Fitted the Hepco and Becker hand guards to mine, no need to mess with the plastic guards already fitted.Though the need for a 12mm hex key left a lot to be desired as most sets run to 10mm.
