Africa Twin is coming

The AT seemed a little........small when I had a sit on one. I might fancy a change to a Honda (I've had a fair few in the past) as the bikes I enjoyed were pretty much faultless, but at 2m tall and with the GSA on the two up higher suspension setting, the size is perfect for me, and I'm thinking the AT might be a tad on the short side.

My question is are there any of you pre-order folk long of leg who are taking a punt?

The 'standard' seat height is given as 870mm - what will the high seat take it to, do you know?

I believe the standard seat is 870mm in high setting and 850mm in low.I read somewhere that the optional High or Low seat add or subtract 30mm.So the High seat on high setting will be 900mm and the Low seat on low setting will be 820mm.But I may be wrong.

900mm will be perfect-my 950SE is 950mm !!!

Cheers for that. Circa 900mm won't rule it out. I shall pursue my interest :thumb2

Got a phone call today from dealership to book my test ride., I could have it for half hour..... I said would it be best to wait a couple of weeks and have a proper go on it... He said yes.... 15 mins wouldn't get me out of town..

Had a good look at my dealers demo today in their workshop. They're holding it back for another week and having a launch do for customers next Saturday, so demo rides won't be available until Monday 18th. It looks much bigger than it did at the NEC for some strange reason. I got to fire it up and am pleased to say the oe exhaust sounds nice and the dash is really cool looking plus the lights are brilliant.....very bright. One other thing is that the front indicators both stay on, same as in all the videos and pictures. Apparently another new European directive :nenau with whichever one you are signalling with flashing and the opposite one staying lit.

Oh, came away with a little souvenir......but I don't speak French ! :blagblah

Just popped past P and H to pick up girlie from LGW and a tri colour AT was parked outside - the manager had just arrived for work having got their demo last night!!
Had a good look at it and sat on it- very nice and looking forward to getting mine now!

Visited my local Honda dealer yesterday, they had just put their demo on the road and the mechanic had taken it for a quick blast, I waited for him to return and had a good look round the bike and was able to play with all the switches check out the lights and check the seat height etc, bloody hell, it's nice, build quality looks impressive, nice engine note, I loved the gold wheels, anyway. I'm heading back in to the dealers today with the Mrs in tow, she won't be impressed with the idea of another bike but I'm working on it........

Quote from MSL

Both wheels are fitted with steel spokes and a tubeless rim, allowing for tyres to be changed anywhere in the world, quickly and easily.

Well that's fucking swung it for me, I've been worried sick about changing tyres anywhere in the world and concerns that spokes may be made out of chop sticks but having read that my fears are gone. That journalist really understands the audiance for a bike like this Cnut!

Oh and they are tubed wheels...Cnut!

:comfort There there.......let it all out. :surrender.

My local dealer demo yesterday, not put it on the road yet so couldn't hear it running.
The seat was in the low position in picture and i'm 5.10 with a 30.5 inseam and I could easily, really easily flat foot, seat felt slim, on high setting flat footing still easy and yet peg to seat height felt greater than on my Crosstourer. Felt so much lighter too.

Crewe Honda should be having a dealer day possibly the 18th .

I'd like to see a Matt black metallic one as that would probably be my preferred colour. :thumb2

Had a sit on one of the black ones today, which I have to say was pretty uninspiring to look at.

It seemed anyone who called in to see it was asking why didn't they have the tri colour as their demo bike!!
Saleman said all those ordered from them are tri colour so wanted to show the black one he was also very keen for me to take it out but only from Chester to Broxton roundabout and back!!

He wasn't too happy when I said I wanted to take it out all day and into the forest:D

So I'm to ride a tri colour from Colwyn Bay back to back with the 1190R, then see which one would be keeping me awake at night if I ordered one .... and have a feeling I know which one it will be.......
