Africa Twin is coming

Went over to Dobles to pick up the Tiger 800XC after having some work done on it friday and they have there demo there just built so they said I could have a look round it in the showroom, but typical traffic was so bad I didn't get there till an hour after they closed, Had to phone on the way and they left the Tiiger outside for me !! shame but im going back over there to have a go Monday they have the DCT version only at the mo
they did say the bikes are all in line to go out Feb/march !! bit of a different storey from when I put the deposit on it I was told 16th of December for delivery !!!

I knew I could count on you for an honest test ride report

Cheers, no point wasting any time at a Honda dealers

All my queries have been answered

Oh hang on, it was a dream.:D:D:D

I'll have a go on one once the excitement dies down though.

Well.............I rode the Tricolour/Gold Wheel version for a 20 minute blast on Saturday :bounce1

Very smooth through the 'box, and on tickover (not agricultural like the GSA)with a lovely note to the exhaust. Comfortable riding position too, considering the bike is too small for me. The suspension was very soft and would require a manual set-up, which I wasn't able to do with a demo back. Very soft front end. Although down on power compared to the GAS, it still picks up well, even with my 105kgs stowed on board.

Not long enough for a proper test I realise, but I liked it, it looks the business and will please those who have one coming I have no doubt at all.

I wouldn't swap my GAS for it though.

Nice bike :thumb2

been told today that Honda want all those who have ordered to receive their bikes at the same time.

Yep, info passed on today was the same. Past caring now. I know how much it is and it'll not be on the road before April anyway.
Just the demo tide to look forward to at present.

I've got the first slot to ride my dealers demo next Monday (4 hours). Thankfully, they'll have heated grips fitted and if I come back before my time is up, they'll change the screen to the taller/wider version to see how that works.

Fussy, ain't ya:D

LMAO love the way the KTM1190 Adventure R is right at the back when in the real world that would be 2 miles out in front, don't you just love this rag
albeit a bit out of character for them not to love the BMW as they all usually do !!

Rode my dealers DCT on Monday superb bike cant wait for mine to arrive

Has anyone on here actually ridden one yet?

Yes took one out today from Wolverhampton Brindley Honda, I can honestly say that I am not blown away by its looks, but the riding experience was something else, loads of torque, very responsive, smooth gearbox, very comfortable ride, very light handling, well it would be after my 1150GSA, clear instrumentation. I did suffer quite a lot of wind turbulence, particularly to my shoulders, lot of wind noise to the helmet but disappeared at varying speeds. I shall re-assess when they have fitted the larger touring screen. This was a base model with no add ons, It 2 grand for the pack !
£500 for a centre stand & heated grips! But the bike in well balanced and very stable, would I buy one ? mmh dunno.

I had a test ride yesterday on a manual version and I was a lot more impressed than i expected to be. Gearbox & clutch very light & smooth, and the whole bike seemed to be very easy to settle into & ride straight from the off. Riding position very comfortable for me, mirrors good with no vibration, and the motor was smooth, even though it had little mileage on the clock. It was fitted with the standard screen and I experienced quite a bit of buffeting at higher speeds, exactly like the KTM 1190 standard screen. The bike hides its weight well once on the move and did fell very nimble and easy to manouvre.
I have not ridden a bike with a tall skinny front wheel before & I didn't know quite what to expect, but I felt perfectly happy with it, although the road conditions were wet & greasy so not easy to push too hard. Brakes also felt good, although again with the road conditions, not much of a test.
The engine note sounded rather nice and seems to perform well with good torque & probably ample oomph for most road riding/overtaking situations, although it obviously hasn't got the out & out blast capability of the 1190 which I currently own - not sure how much of an issue this would prove to be in reality.

I have no offroad experience, so I am not sure how much (if any) I would use its off road capability, so the bike may be wasted on me, but if I did buy one I would definitely have a crack at Honda's off road school offer.

Only two things bother me about the bike (bearing in mind most of my mileage in on foreign road tours), the comparatively small fuel capacity and tubed tyres.

How much range do you want ? The AT will do over 200 miles plus reserve !! I've not had a puncture in 8 years on my 950 Super Enduro,so if that's all that's bothering you then you should get one !!! :aidan

You must have something in common with my wife Arsey ..... :D

The real one I should have kept :blast:blast:blast
