Africa Twin is HERE !!!

I have my boxes sold already. Not impressed with the strength of them.
And side loading is a pain

I prefer side loading TBH, maybe it's the way I pack. :nenau. As said before, they aren't the best by any means, but I prefer them, so far, to my Holan Nomada Alu ones. If I was heading off around the world, well that'd be a different matter, but for occasional holiday/trip use, I think they're fine.

Has anybody heard from Honda regarding spokes or heated grips yet?? Taking forever.
Plus my set switch bust again.

Sorry to hear of your woes...

Not a reflection on your decision to buy one....however I wonder what else Honda have cheapened to bring it in at those prices (which seem very keen against the opposition):D

Honda as a long time haven't had a great finish.
Not like stuff from years ago.
But this bike has a few niggles going on

4 friends have them as well. All same issues.

Spokes....still bright.

Grips......still waiting on fix.

SET switch....was sticky, silicone released it. Now very sticky and silicone won't release it.

Sticky switch happened when I went to Skye in all that rain, all the touring pack I ordered now fitted, Honda panniers, I always thought I will go with givi Ali boxes so not really bothered about panniers, hope Honda take them back not the end of the world as I've got some one interested in them, touring screen not that good that's still ongoing what one to us,
I'm still pleased I got the twin instead of getting another Bmw, saying that just bought a 07 GS off here this week as I want a second big bike to thrash up the lanes

Seems too the brake dust is eating into spokes.
They will clean but takes ages.
Front wheel is a lot worse than rear.
I had too take wheels out too clean spokes properly.
Good as new again but won't last.
That's only in 6 thou mile. Not good

My Spokes are tarnishing, Honda know about it and the set switch whick I sprayed some metalite on and has been perfect since Panniers watertight as is the top box so no complaints
I have been told but not too sure how reliably, Honda are going to replace the wheels with new ones with brarings and Stainless steel spokes but will use existing Discs, sprocket and tyres !!

My SET button is working fine again today. Just a nuisance that is doesn't work all the time. Well, when I say work, I mean return to its out position.

Sargent seat now in development. :bounce1

Tho' this looks the biz......:drool

Something strange happened to my DCT yesterday ???
When I first rode it D was awful short shifted too quick made it chug along so I used s1 still running in you know:augie
Anyway haven't ridden for 3 weeks due to broken finger, couldn't stand it any more made splint in old pair of gloves worked well,
Anyway I digress, because of broken finger I put it in D done a couple hundred miles over weekend and D is getting better and better as though it's learning my riding style and change points, either that or I'm learning how to use the throttle to control the change points, as riding it is becoming more better and better each time I take her out.

I think it's probably the later but I do know my jeep(Mercedes electronic) auto box learns change points, as you can do a reset for it, so does the Africa twin learning about me or am I learning about it is this the start of cybernet :nenau:eek:

The Africa Twin is definitely not under powered despite what some blinkered muppets on here think . I've just ridden 500 miles up and down the gnarliest steepest passes in Europe two up with luggage and the DCT pulls like a tractor !!

275 miles on Sunday with a mate who just bought a manual one and another mate on a 1200GSLC and the ATs were superb, ok the GS was with us as well and it didnt disintegrate so that wasnt bad either, TKC80s were really good on mine they felt well planted even at warp speed I do love these bikes, Wondering if I should have bought the Tricolour now though as his does look superb !!

330 miles on Monday on a trip over to Scotland to visit Schtum. The only thing I need to make it perfect is a Sargent seat. It's not that the seat is really bad, (like the plank my 12GS was fitted with... a Sargent sorted that out too), but it does make me squirm a bit once over 100 miles. Averaged 61 mpg too :thumb2
