Africa Twin is HERE !!!

WOW yes it really got a severe slagging off on there !!

"On paper the Honda fails to impress, but as every rider in our group found out after throwing a leg over the Africa Twin, the bike simply works and works well. It’s not the most powerful or otherwise standout bike here in any category, it just quietly (not really, it’s one of the best sounding Hondas in a long time, barking out an appealing V-Twin-like note from its 270-degree crank arrangement) goes about the task at hand.

“Feels far and away the most natural as soon as you sit on it…. then keeps feeling the most natural,” says Alexander. “The Africa Twin has ‘motorcycle’ blood and can’t help but to feel and act exactly like you expect a motorcycle to feel and act. I absolutely love it"

Bet Honda are shitting themselves, sorry how much more expensive is the 1200GSA or the Multistrada Enduro, funny how the people on here who liken the Africa twin to the 800 Tiger or 800GS failed to see that the Africa Twin came in a whopping 4.73% above the Tiger and only .87% below the much more expensive GS, figure that one out

The KTM came out well, I loved mine but sold it due to the reliability issues I experienced that thankfully the Honda doesn't have (so far )

Damming report, I think not id say that was a Glowing report given the company it was up against and the price difference, lets compare eggs with eggs here guys

AT still does very well

Just the KTM comes out better :comfort

Well I must say, the Africa Twin is utterly brilliant off road.
I've just done Level 2 of the Honda Adventure Centre course.Spent day 1 on the manual bike but blagged the DCT for today and it was amazing.
We were going up and down muddy hills that I never though possible on such a big bike.
The DCT especially was a revelation. For downhill simply switch off ABS,press the G button, give it a blip in first to activate and away you go ,down extremely steep slopes with back brake full on and steering with the front with a dab of front brake occasionally .

For uphill, short shift into 2nd and hold a constant throttle and up you go.

Didn't fall off all day apart from a low speed spill in very wet and deep ruts.

Great course-can recommend it.

Need to fit Karoos to mine now and do the TAT !!! Paging Bilco !!!

A cracking day at the Weston Beach Race - I think this Africa Twin fared better than the other one.

That looks great.:thumb

I'd consider selling the XR and getting one, as I need to slow down a bit. Have they sorted the spoke issue yet? Any other first model year issues that have yet to be sorted?

Stainless steel spokes for 2017 model and cruise control added. Sticky SET button seems to be limited to the early bikes. Heated grips are still crap.

I asked the Honda people on the stand at Intermot and they said the only changes for 2017 were colours. Mentioned cruise control and they just shook their heads.
