Just bought r1200gs to tour around France. I'm 6'2" so I would need a taller screen. Don't want to buy one blind, any recommendations would a big help.

I'm 6ft 2in and quite broad in the shoulder. I have a Givi Highflow screen. I find that I do not need the Cymarc brackets but others do. I can ride with the visor open at motorway speeds with no problems. I get a bit of wind noise but no buffeting. I keep it on the highest setting except on very hot days when I lower it for ventilation purposes. Great bit of kit and not expensive at about £110.00.

Puig touring screen is a good option but would probably need extra support brackets. I have one on my LC Gsa and it works well..

I´m 1.78m, my bike, R1250gs came with the standard screen to witch I added the wunderlich deflectors (similar to the GSA ones) and the Givi hand guards extenders, on this configuration the original screen is a bit too short with some buffeting, then I got the GSA screen, better but the lateral cutouts left some wind thet went under the helmet and created some noise, finally I got the Vstram that solved those last issues, it´s not 100% perfect but is better than the GSA one.
Some caveats, the Vstream is fixed higher than the OEM ones, the plastic tabs that hold it to the bike hungs about 1cm bellow the botom of the screen so the size of the screen doesn´t reflects how high it sits.
So, it´s about 5cm higher than the GSA one but with the GSA at it´s highest setting, I was looking way above it, with the Vstream at it´s lowest setting it´s almost at my eye level, but since you´re taller than me it should be ok for you.
Also tryed raising it a little above the lowest setting but it seemed to worsen the fuffeting (at it´s lowest setting the airstream barelly touches the top of my helmet)

ps. I have the Puig double brackets

if you have a "normal" GS, you could try a GSA screen - I have done that and I am happy, I am 6' 1"
this one https://www.slipscreens.co.uk/bmw-r1200gs-gsa-lc-440mm-touring-screen-6774/
looks great in light smoke tint, and not so large that it makes you feel "in" thr bike rather than "on" - unless you raise it up to full height.
I have also fitted Cymarc brackets as it did vibrate a bit over bumps...

About 5cm but it´s hard to be precise as it has a v shape (higher on the corners)

+1 for Puig touring screen + additional supports. Looks just like the OEM but bigger!

For me, the best combination is a Wunderlich Marathon screen with RHS support paired with an MRA Xcreen deflector.
I am 6´1¨with a 34¨inseam.
Using a Neotec II or C4 Pro its just about perfect.

+2 for the Puig... works too good!... very hot in summer!!

+3 :thumby: I’ve bought an MRA Vario screen for my 1250 as a compromise ready for my tour for France and the Spanish Pyrenees in a couple of weeks for this reason. My Puig touring screen will be fitted later in the year as the weather cools down.

I’m 5’ 9” and have the Vstream on my 15 GS, and works for me pretty much as Pit says. I would just like to add that not all screens are not made from the same type of plastic. The Vstream is made from a polycarbonate which is a lot more scratch resistant than a lot of brands out there. After 4 years of it being on the bike it has a lot less scratches, than the Givi I had on my TC for instance.

About 5cm but it´s hard to be precise as it has a v shape (higher on the corners)
Slipstream says 44mm... But it appears to have a "lip" helping divert air.
I don;t think I would like a larger screen, because I like to look over, not through, and also a high screen makes me feel like I am "in" the bike rather than "on" the bike...a different feeling when cornering IMHO (but I am sure better for motorway mile munching)

Thanks everyone for there input but I'm more confused now then when I started.
Which screen.
MRA.
PUIG.
WUNDERLICH.
GSA SCREEN.
GIVI.

at 6ft 3 in i find the standard screen is fine with a Touratech clip on screen extender. Its very easy to remove this for when its supe hot or abroad and want low screen with max air flow.
taking the peak off a helmet for long motorway runs totally eliminates any vibes

I take the view it's a personal choice. A barn door to hide behind has disadvantages of removing the "sporty feel", more susceptible to crosswinds etc. A shorter screen is sportier, but less weather protection. We all have our "sweet spot" I guess...

Thanks, I'll take a look at that.

Rock 10 - i have a Wunderlich Ergo screen extension still in it's box from Nippy Normans that I never used (I got an MRA screen instead - I'm 5ft 8). Not sure where you live but I'm in north London. If you're happy to come to mine you can have it for £80 cash before I put it on ebay. They retail new for £109 from NN.

Thanks very much for the offer but thats not the way I want to go with a taller screen.
