Guys,

After the Clan gathering,we are heading down the coast, taking a few days.

HRH has kindly given me some guidance already, but rather that keep pestering him with PMs I thought I would just ask here for advice on distances.

We are planning someting like this :

133 miles and stop near Applecross.

Next day :

141 miles and stop in Tobermory,Mull

Following day :

<img src="http://img.skitch.com/20090520-qqy9qrakf887nqya684tyw2heh.jpg" alt="Picture 3"/>

135 miles and stop near Dunoon ?

Bearing in mind that the 2nd day will involve the ferry off Skye and onto Mull and the 3 rd day off Mull over to Oban, etc, are these sensible distances for each day giving time for stops to admire views/lunch etc ?

Anybody got any suggestions where to stop in Applecross and near Dunoon ?

The Applecross Inn is full, due to bloody Monty Halls, but has anybody stayed at a B & B within walking distance of the pub ?

Ta for any thoughts people.

Looks like a classic run south.

I'd reccommend The Grey Gull Inn, Ardrishaig.

Couldn't fault the place, and the D,B&B deal is great.

There is a good B&B if you go all the way through the campsite- can't remember the name but the Inn gave me his name and number when I was trying to book accommodation.

Edit:

BTW - looks like you're planning on riding down the Bealach - it's a LOT more fun to ride up.

At the campsite in Applecross there is a tea room and the young lady that runs it (the walled garden tea rooms I think) seemed to have a great knowledge of all the accomodation in the area, so if you get stuck it might be worth popping in and having a chat with her over a cup of tea.

Same as above, the Inn has always booked up well in advance, we stopped there for some time and then had to move down the road to Camusteel to a B+B that the Inn use regularly.

Nice old dear, cannot remember her name at all, she seemed concerned that I couldn't polish off her huge breakfasts every morning....

The B+B is easy staggering distance to the pub - ask the pub for her details - I cannot remember them.

And yes, do the pass the other way round....or twice.:D

Ta-think I've tried her and she was full.
