Hi All, I have a 1998 GS1100 with the standard exhaust system fitted. It's all in excellent condition but I keep hearing that one of the best mods is to fit a Remus Revolution end can to replace the original and collector box. Any thoughts/experiences that could assist me make up my mind:nenau:confused:

Look forward to hearing from you.....!

I bought a Remus viper 2 spout end can and pipe for mine, sounds awesome....i love it, and would do the remus line again if i had to.

runs ok apart from the od pop on the rerun.. tryed a few cat code links. suposedly for mine . not much difference, still does 200 to the tank.

welcome ugg.

Thanks very much guys, that settles it then...!! The Remus it is. :clap
Funny enough, went out earlier on and saw same year/model with a Remus on and sounded lovely!!
Thanks again and have a great week, all best regards,

Remus may sound lovely ( not so lovely if you ever use it for long tours), but your far better off keeping the standard system. ;)

Hi Steptoe, that's interesting mate, are you saying that there is a noise issue or a fuel economy issue with the bike having a Remus fitted over a long journey? I'd be interested in your thoughts. Hear from you soon perhaps,

Cheers, Clarkie. :thumb2

It's just the constant drone from it,and it's a pain in the butt for anyone following you for any length of time.

Leave it nice and standard:thumb2

I've had a remus titanium system and not been worried about the noise - i couldn't hear it above 70 anyway.

Now i've got a Laser system on this 1100 and its not as noisy, yet is still almost baffleless.

I much prefer aftermarket than standard :thumb

Well, now I am confused :blast...my standard system is in lovely condition and there's no real reason to change it...could spend the money on some other mods I suppose but there's just something quite....well....leafblowerlike about the sound of the exhaust as is....bugger it, I'll give it some more thought then, thanks for your help so far....:thumb2

Don't be confused Clarkie, just do what you want to. I put a Lasor pipe and chip on my 1100 a long time back. Love the sound and the occasional backfire on the overrun. I don't notice any noise unless I really open it up and if its a pain in the butt for anyone following for any length of time, well thats their problem. They could always overtake. :augie

You're absolutely right, it's my choice after all. I think I'll stick with the original for now and put the money towards a new set of ally panniers ready for my trip to Italy next year. Thanks again to all those who had their say and helped me come to a conclusion :bow
Safe riding everyone....!

1100 exhaust

hi mate i have the remus and connecter pipe on my1100 gs and im putting it back to standard,it drone on long runs and you lose a bit of midrange.louder isnt faster.

Thanks alot Kokoro!! Have already ordered my panniers!!:thumb2

Clarkie :roll

I tried a few exhausts on my 1100. The only one that ran ok and didn't drive me mad on a long run was a remus with the balance box, lovely sound and smooth running. Keep your original one though and save your cash for something else.
