Anybody fitted a screen that they can recommend ? I'm interested in more protection on the shoulders and helmet. Am 6'2" with long back.

Standard screen OK but tiring on 300 plus mile days.

I think the standard screen is excellent for it's size, however on a recent trip to France we rode to Paris which was 167mls from our friends place where we were staying.

Joanne had to tuck in behind me at speeds over 80 as she was experiencing some extreme buffeting, this was also the case on our TC which was cured completely by fitting winglets.

Although I'm short legged I'm fairly long bodied and find that at high speed with my visor down there is no buffeting but the wind noise is excessive put my visor up and it's fine only problem with that is it won't stay up.

I definitely think it needs winglets although I am considering one of the TT screen extenders for longer journeys and to see if it helps Jo when she's on the back.

Roll on Givi Airflow.

It's so good it's Witch-craft!

Even if it's on the Fugly side....

Had the same problem about 4 years ago. Spent a fortune trying to turn a GS into an RT. In the end, gave up and bought an RT. Does nearly everything the GS does, but in comfort !!.

Bought adventure screen, it works and look right. Some after market screens work but look Micky mouse. You can't have function without style.

On a trip through France with wife and we both conclude the screen issue is caused by it's lack of width. We stuck some cardboard on it to add 2" either side and it became very good but my wife said the BMW stylists and fashionistas would not accept it.

So my guess is the new Adventure screen will do the trick as it did on the old model.

That's what I like to hear....cardboard ...did you use gaffatape or ducktape?

It's an old couriers' trick.

The preferred material is the light density plastic foam, used for estate agents' boards, held on with gaffer tape.

Full marks less one, to the bod with his cardboard... Thinking outside the box and displaying a ready ability to apply self-reliance, without recourse to the Touratech brochure. Losing just one mark for obviously having had help from his wife (a woman) who clearly should know nothing about technical matters.

There`s seemingly a screen available

Hi Guys, I`m getting sent a screen by Norman (AKA Nippy Normans) - he`s kind enough to allow me to test gear for him (and I of course remain very appreciative :bow) - I`ll post something once I`ve carried out the appraisal. This is what I now so far...............

Our supplier has developed a new screen for the GS LC - would you try it for us?
Here are the details:

The flip screen for the R1200GS 2013 is 85mm higher and 40mm wider than the standard screen. Also included is the lower deflector piece that is fitted beneath the screen.

We used black PVC sticky as dry egg yoke tape and reinforced cardboard. It was 31c today on our 255 mile trip ending in the Ardeche region.

My wife said width does the trick and she was very flush in the face when we had finished the ride!

Laminar lip

Has anyone looked at the Laminar lip that is now available for the LC. Or what about the touratech little added screen on top?

I'd be interested to know how it works out too.
For me, the standard screen could do with being a couple of inches taller and maybe an inch either side....if it could be available in a dark tint too :JB

I'm going to experiment with widening the black plastic wind deflectors that are just below the screen which I believe act like winglets and they worked on my TC.

I've finally worked out a way to fix my spots without spending a stupid amount of money, although I'm a little concerned that they may be to close to the air intake? we shall see.

Rattler, I have been asked not to post anything until the screens are actually in stock - naturally I will observe this request but what I will say is that the screen is bloody good IMHO and once its available and I get the `ok` I will publish the images and my report.

Sorry, but I have to respect Normans wishes - he`s a good person, has always been kind to me and I feel that it will be a good seller for him when it is available.

Please accept my sincere apologies.
