Thinking of trundling up to On Yer Bike in Bucks today to have a look at one. Any thoughts/experience anyone?

Gave one a try. Issue for me was that the L was too L and the M was, fractionally, too small (little too much pressure on the forehead, although I suspect it would have been okay with wear).
Impressions very good. It's very light, even compared to a Tour X3, and slightly more aggressive in style thanks to the lower rake of the chin bar. Venting appears good, but can't be sure having not ridden in it.
In the end, I bought a white Tour X3. Combination of it fitting beautifully and them offering me a deal when I asked for best price (£345).
If the fit had been right I'd probably have gone with the AX8-DS though, coz it looks proper value for money if your head's the right shape.
