Waste of an afternoon.......

I was on my way to trade in my bike when the then salesman called me to say he had sold the bike I was coming to buy ! wasn't impressed............... it's looking like the service Department are getting the same
One has to put down a deposit if one intends to buy a machine.

I "stole" someone else's car this way while he was test driving it without a deposit.

No deposit requested, it was offered, as he had procured the bike at my request and said it was sold to my good self. Sold it to a chap he knew who bought
it on a whim........................ upshot was I found another in Chester, did the deal for a better spec bike at the same price  ...and did a better P/ex deal.

update..........dropped bike off this morning, software updated & oil sender replaced.
Apparently, the suspension failure is/maybe down to the ezcan / spotlights sending rouge messages to the canbus system ? Strange as it had failed before & after that was fitted, also if the lithium battery is low. Again, strange as the bike sits with the trickle charger attached (BMW approved unit) when in the garage.
I didn't return the 270mls of overfill oil, waiting to see if it's been overfilled again..........................collecting tomorrow so we shall see!

Love the bike, not the drama's

.......managed 40 miles before the suspension failure popped up.
Going for a BMW warrenty replacement, the dealer has to raise some kind of report so, again, wait & see !
On the plus side the software update was an improvement overall, bike rode a lot better.

Red light spells danger ? Billy Ocean I think 😜

..................the bike is being collected 7th Oct for diagnostics and investigation, I have asked for BMW UK to be advised a warranty claim is going in. I really want a new suspension unit and set up to replace this faulty unit.

Disappointingly no loan bike being offered as Sycamore cannot provide a 'long term' loaner! - maybe BMW UK should cover this ! So just how long do they think this will take??

It's such a shame about Sycamore P'boro. Previously trading as Balderston's, the proprietor, Robin Homewood was a genuinely lovely bloke who treated all his customers like friends and would take the time to have a chat and send you away with exactly the service you'd expected. During the planning stages of moving his business from Lincoln Road to its present location, he loaded me into his car and took me along to see where the new premises would be. Hi wife, Jenny's dad was the Mr Balderston and until its takeover, it really was a family business. Gary was the Service Manager there at that time and I believe he's still there. OK, he'll be operating to Sycamore's instructions but I'd be really surprised if Gary's changed his spots to the extent of pissing off customers, as described. Sadly, large corporates are snatching up all the family businesses, which have thrived due to good service and customer satisfaction. Dentists and vets etc etc are the same. All controlled by investment companies with maximum cost to the customer for minimal quality of service. Rant over!

I bought my RS off them(Balderston),had an issue which they put down to owner neglect, needless to say if that bunch of cùnts were the only BMdubya dealer on the planet I'd buy a kawasaki.
I used to take great pleasure flicking them the bird as I rode past enroute to Welwyn for a service, same on the way back..... The cun̈ts.

so, bike went back yesterday for another check over and diagnostic, called today to say everything appears to be Ok. The issue is suspected to be with the HEX EZ can being installed with the extra spotlights. Apparently, all other systems were checked and ruled out, last visit the software was updated. They advised an issue with the HEX EZ Can and spotlights as this had been an issue with other bikes coming into the dealership with similar problems

I'm not any kind of electrical expert with this so reading and using AI there may be an issue with the CoLite DO9 Pro lights & EZ Can and the can bus system in there is some kind of signal interference tripping the suspension into a fault situation/ warning. Speaking with some tech's here at work in medical equipment and electronics they suggested fitting a ' TDK CLIP ON FERRITE BEADS SPLIT CORE EMI RFI' thingy after a bit of Googling. For the sake of £4 I'm going to give this a go when I get the bike back, if only to rule it out or identify this as the issue.
As I said I am not knowledgeable around electronics / CanBus so time will tell ! It's worth a punt.

Unless anyone knows better ??

Will they now be giving you a hefty bill for all the time spent diagnosing this as it’s possibly being caused by non-BMW kit?

Its not been mentioned ££, or confirmed as the source of the problem so hopefully no.
The EZCan cause was their opinion, i'm going to run it with it disconnected to see.
I just want to know if it is going to be an issuecas I plan to keep this bike.....time may tell
