Air Bag Jackets

Despite these having been around for a while, they still seem rare.
I've done a little bit of googling and there seems less information out there than I would expect.
Has anybody had any experience with them? Neck and spine saver or just a gimick?

Don't know about jackets, but I wear a HitAir vest, not instead of but in addition to the usual armour in my jacket. A biking paramedic looked it over and said that in his opinion it was well designed and would provide effective protection of vital areas - neck, spine chest etc.

Special note to wiseacres and doomsayers: I dont consider this makes me invulnerable and ride like a maniac as a result. It is simply an extra layer of protection because, as Hershon says, even if our control of motorcycles is absolute, our powers of observation perfect and our roadcraft beyond criticism, we can still get nailed by some drunk, drugged or texting idiot.

Yes - to both As far as i can see.
I had to research the topic for MAG Irl and found, as you have, that little info exists and makers are shy to guarantee good results. Understandable i suppose.
So, my own personal view is that they potentially could well be either a gimmick OR a spine saver.
