Air freight to USA

Anyone any experience of air freighting their bike to USA for a holiday, I am going for a month and looking to freight back from Canada. There are a few companies who do it, costs seem to be about 2300 uk pounds which is quite a bit less than rentals, also renting in US and dropping off in Canada is not an option with most rental companies.
I'd be interested in any experiences or suggestions, I'm looking to fly into Denver or somewhere like that.

Have you also considered sea freight. It can be considerably cheaper but often takes longer to get there and come back.

I'm doing a similar trip myself Jaygee, currently planning to use air freight outbound to Anchorage with James Cargo, not yet decided about the return, hopefully by sea from Vancouver. Would be interested to hear what you decided and why...

Hi vee5, current plan is to use James Cargo air frieght to Denver, returning from Vancouver by airfrieght or possibly by sea, it's cheaper but might take 6 weeks by sea. Sgt Bilko had some much cheaper alternatives but not to where I want to start, very helpful though.
Planning on 4 weeks away, chose James Cargo as they come highly recommended and they will ship with luggage panniers fully loaded, even ship helmets with bike but I'd rather carry them. Air freight out as I want to start from Denver, may air freight back as well, depends on cost difference.
Did talk to HC travel but they don't air freight to USA, only Canada and the panniers would have to be empty. Chose to take my bike rather than rent mainly for cost reasons and wanting to do a one way ride makes rental difficult.
Let us know what you do and how it goes.

I'm freighting my bike for the same reasons as yourself, outbound mid June and returning a month later. Like you I did contact SB who was indeed extremely helpful but he ships in and out too far south for me so had to pass on that option. I've had a couple of different conversations with James Cargo, and have received differing advice on both occasions - you don't seem to have contact info on your profile, can you PM me as I'd like to "compare notes" with you on this as we seem to have very similar shipping scenarios.

I am also planning a similar trip but for a bit longer. I too have spoken to James Cargo and they are going to be my route to the US.

Don't forget that you can't get the bike out of customs without proper insurance and its not cheap in the US. That is why I rented bikes the last time because once I factored all that in I decided that for a month it was easier to rent. Also the dealer we used gave us a good deal because we had the bikes for almost 3 weeks.

Well I'm flying INTO the States (Anchorage) but out of Vancouver as thats the way the trip has worked out. Where does your trip start and end if they are flying your bike in and out of the States?
