I went with my Brother and a couple of mates to the World Superbike at Magny Cours over the last weekend. A recent trip to the Ring in which all the return riding was done in one hit made me realise the GS seat is not the best in the world when it comes to very long days in the saddle.

So this time I fitted an Air-Hawk2 seat pad on the suggestion of one of the guys on the trip, and I have to say it was an absolute revelation. For anyone who's never heard of them they have a number of air cells which you inflate just enough and they spread the pressure, taking it off the main points on your ass and allowing for pain free riding over long periods.

This one is now an essential part of my biking kit, and I won't be going away without it!:thumb2

Seconded :thumb
We have recently returned from a holiday in the Alps, Two up, so two Airhawks, My wife had never ridden pillion for more than a day before, but with Airhawk 2k miles over ten days and no complaints.

never leave home without mr airhawk.:bow:bow
my arse would be most unhappy.:thumb

I carry mine in my tank-bag for my normal 'bimble'... But after a couple hours on my bare seat I feel like I've had enough generally...

I've ridden 800 mile days on it coming up from Morocco... wonderful thing for the epic trips...

And i take it they are 100% waterproof/tight?

yes/no
the cushion is.
the cover is nylon/cotton etc, but your seat not waterproof anyway and most riders wear w/proofs.:thumb

For added comfort over big distance`s, I put a lambland sheepkin over the Airhawk and it`s like sitting in your favourite armchair!!

When I'm not touring I use mine on my PC chair! :D

It feels great when I sit on it in my undies. :thumb

Btw, the Airhawk 2 is the cheaper rubber version - the original Airhawk is neoprene.

But how much trial and error does it take to arrive at 'just enough' ?

But when it rains, isn't that like sitting on a wet dog ?

So which model Airhawk do you use ?

They seem to make quite a few different models.

Arsey-
AIRHAWK CRUISER MOTORCYCLE SEAT (LARGE or MED) WITH COVER.
very little air [you have to have play to find whats best for you.
as for the rain on lambskin-it's no different than your seat and when it rains you wear waterproof gear.so it's the same.
plus the sheepskin hides your expensive Airhawk from prying eye's.
When touring i take in or leave it in the top box at night.
and lastly i do have a black plastic bag/cover that i put on if leaving the bike out in the rain for any time just to keep the worst off, although a good shake gets the worst off.:thumb
after all sheep stay out in the rain :D:D;)

A Trek Mates Medium Backpack Rain Cover (cost around £6-£7) fits neatly over both my sheepskin seat covers on my R1200GS and packs up in its stuff sack to the size of an apple. :thumb2
