It is the full width of the seat. Just how big IS your derrier![]()

I think a few people are missing the point of the airhawk. A pumped up cushion is just that. A pumped up cushion. It is a solid surface which just like gel or the regular seat will create pressure points. The airhawk has chambers but very narrow links between the chambers so that when the weight moves the air moves into the next chamber gradually.
If a simple blow up bed style cushion was the panacea of arse ache then every hospital the world over would use the cheap one for people who are either bed ridden or wheelchair bound. The airhawk was specially designed for such scenarios and was only made into a motorcycle product as an after thought.
you gets what you pay for in my view. The airhawk is the only thing that has enabled me to ride the long distances across the continent. dead sheep and the like just don't cut the mustard, get wet and look a bit grizzly adams for my liking.![]()

As the originator of this thread I have to admit I have never used an airhawk as I simply would not pay that sort of money for one. It would not surprise me if the airhawk was better but I, like most I suspect, do not do 500+ mile days all the time. I regularly do 300 mile days, as indeed I did yesterday and the £7 option allows me to get off fresh as a daisy whereas without the cushion I would know about it for an hour or so afterwards.
I will be interested to hear the views of others who have decided to try the £7 option, particularly those who have tried an airhawk in the past. I suspect for most people the airhawk would have to be quite a bit more comfy to justify the massive price differential.
If I had an airhawk I would be paranoid about leaving it on the bike out of my sight even if I was popping into the shops for 5 minutes. I leave my cushion on the bike. If it gets nicked I will just get another!
petite but bony arse which needs a bit of padding! You also get a cushion for those snoozy moments. If it's a complete pile of poo I'll fill it with helium and take the 12 guage to it! Either way a report follows.I think a few people are missing the point of the airhawk. A pumped up cushion is just that. A pumped up cushion. The Putnams, too, has small connecting channels which slows the movement of air into the next channel gradually.
Like the airhawk, The Putnams works best with a minimum of air in it.
The putnams was also designed for such scenarios and was only made into a motorcycle product as an afterthought (by the people on here who've bought one).
"You get what you pay for".........nah, that's just crap.
We all know of examples of expensive rubbish.
The Putnams seems to work fine. Not AS good as an airhawk (which i've also tried), but not far off, and for a fraction of the price.
I'd rather spend the difference on farkles !

Don't know what Farkles are.....oh dear oh dear.

Is everyone talking about the 'stadium seat' model?
Looks awkward in shape to fit a bike seat
