and don't tell me, you are regretting it already - unless it was a PD

"never catch a falling knife"

no, i'm enjoying it a lot. i will be even more when i've fixed that hopeless excuse for a brake weighing down the front end.

that's what i'm doing right now, so there's originality gone right there. better that than being under a car IMO :D

but the mono is nicer to look at because it is a bike perfectly in proportion. the para (especially the PD) is a big fat ugly old thing on skinny wheels, probably with another big fat ugly old thing sat on top. that last bit applies to monos as well.

Sorry this is cruel, but I had to bang it in

Photo?

Cookie, I think that I have a hardly used 320mm rotor etc.. and I also have a K caliper somewhere

that is truly hideous.

It is, but isn't it lovely :D

It's proper....A bit like Karl's (Mavis Cruet's) :)

I'd have that no hesitation........at least you could ride it anywhere and do anything with it without being the slightest bit precious about it :D

A paralever is a thing of beauty

.....sadly now sold.......
the guy who bought the Bike did not want the tank, seat and rack..he wanted a "standard Bike",
the Tank went on another Basic that was ridden down here and the seat and rack finally went a couple of weeks ago....and will now doubt appear on a Bike in the next few months

Basic.jpg

The Paralever has a life expectancy off road of less than 40K, why would anyone make an off road tourer with a driveline that fails in Dara Salam? The monolever has historically lasted for hundreds of thousands of miles and can be services in the field with a single wrench. The Paralever housing where ti meets the trans is so weak that dropping the bike on that side will break the trans... This is an off road trourer! Leave the paralever on the road bikes, they look neat, but have no place on a real off road touring bike.

A merkin with a sense of humour (and an anorak) :clap :clap :clap :D

I've only just looked back on these pics but in the light of this thread, isn't this very similar?

I wish I'd asked how much it was now:blast

They were even offering a small pink haired thing free with it

I'd no idea what it was (or was meant to be anyway) until this thread......nor how much it was worth, but it was gorgeous enough to take a good few pics over and dribble on the seat :D

No Bill.:nono
That's a PARALEVER:blast:blast not a superior Mono or twin shock version

That Bike, or a very similar one, was sold by a Dealer on the Dutch/German border about 6 maybe 7 years ago.....I almost went to look at it..of that I am almost sure........and I think that it was before Gaston died and again I think that there was a video with him belting it around some football field...
I think that the price was £13,000 ish in "old money" i.e. when the £ was a lot stronger.....but I could be wrong as i am am "old git"

a lot of thinks in there

That's where we saw it Bill......in a German dealership that (looking back) would have been fairly close to the Dutch border....I'd have to look up the tracklogs to find out where but yes, that makes sense.

Proff, it may not suit your particular foibles and prejudices, but given the choice between that and one of the brand spanking new shiny 1200GSA's that were sitting downstairs, I would have most certainly have ridden away on the Airhead......I guess that would mean I vaulue it mentally at more than £11k ish :nenau

PS Rosie agreed, but it nearly matched her hair and she's a girl

:hide

There have been some very nice PD Bikes out there that have been sold over the years.
I almost bought a one in my paragon days........but I could never get on one

This one will suit Keith, as it's a monobugger, but not a mono

Another airhead from the same thread about our visit to Munchen;

Now I'm guessing that it might be far more up Proff's street than the other one, but it didn't do too much for me I'm afraid :blast

Proff, fancy riding down Sherborne high street or whatever on that......now that would be an experience.....worth a few quid!

but I think that I would still go for the para

due to some really bad shit happening at work i'm considering selling CAMILLE:eek: and the harley.
i hoped i'd never have to say that but with things as they are it may be the only option so what i want to know is what she worth. I know some of you know what i paid fer her but that was before things came to light so come on what are your thoughts.:tears:tears:tears:tears:tears:tears:tears:tears

So is it for sale? when will it be on eBay?
