airhead project build (with pictures)

I have purchased some specialist airhead bits. rotor pullers, header wrenches, big spanners. I'm not learned but I do have access to an unltd mailroom, p&p irrelevant. will post my tools to anyone here on trust on promise of return.

todays efforts ,down the shed for a few hours today and i am getting things stripped down ready for paint or not ,as those nagging words from rob keep coming into my head "vapour blasting" well i started and i will post a few pics of my efforts today ,firstly the carb bowls and main jets are full off crap some sort of white stuff i dont knowm when the bike was last run a long time ago i suspect ,stripped some more bits of and labelled and bagged (well actually soup containerd then) .
then the worst thing a bit of polishing as i couldnt find any plus gas any where for the seized bolt and mick said "patience dave patience " so i listened for once ,allso could find my feeler guages to mesure the swing arm to frame distance so ileft that .
well after i had been polishing for a while and the bevel box was starting to shine i thought this is looking ok ,but i am never going to get the heads that clean with hand polishing ,so the descion was made to strip the engine (one which may come back to haunt me later) and bollocks to the budget .
so we are at ,powder coat frame and swing arm (not spray hammerite as first thought )powder coat new cast wheels when i get them , new sub frame (allthough i have not ruled out cutting and shortening and rewelding the origonal as the shock mounts are better on this i think , proper respray in old harley factory colours (orange /white /black ...may change ) moorespeed airbox carbs cleaned ,etc etc etc .

this is more than my £650 budget if i get any change from £2500 i will be doing well ,but i want to get it right for me and only me .allthough i might have a reputaion as chopping and changing bikes pretty often (that is very true) i would like to keep this one:augie
ok every one lost the will to live yet heres some pics for those who cant read

They are great colours,no doubt about it but will they look OK on a BMW?
I think those colours are that good,I built this XRtt a few years back. It looked great and sounded fab but it was like riding a Jackhammer!
I built a BMW Cafe racer after that because I knew would go,stop and turn. It had a Sciminger race engine!

Enjoy with your build

well at least today i decided that its more about getting it right rather than build it to a budget of a fashion ,as allways stated like most on here we dont have tons of money so it is to a budget of sorts ,i would like some of the knowledge and skills of some in this section ................no names mentioned ,but i think i will learn a lot for the next one :blast
