Evening all, I guess by now someone has replaced the original headers and cat with either akrapovic or remus downpipes. Assuming that the exhaust valve and associated cables/actuator are also removed does a warning light come up on the dash. Or like Suzukis does a wire have to be removed from the ECU?
Do you notice an improvement in power/torque?

I asked a couple of weeks back if anyone had fitted headers yet but got no response. AFAIK the exhaust valve /flap will remain in place with both Remus and Akrapovic headers. Calsport are doing Remus headers on ebay at £420 which i think includes delivery.

How do you fit the original exhaust valve/flap ! Its one piece on the original headers and cannot be taken off !

Okay i am assuming that the exhaust valve on the new WC is the same set up as my 2010 GS. If it is then the motorised exhaust valve unit is a smaller diameter than the pipework on either side ( slip on side and header side ) and so it slots in to each side and held in place by adjustable clamps. So loosen the original exhaust (all or part) remove. Then fit slip on and or headers. Slot the exhaust valve unit into both sides. The tighten the lot up. Please bear in mind what i know about things mechanical can be written on the back of a gnats cock with room to spare. I did though manage to fit a full Akrapovic system to my 2010 GS. I have to confess that my friend helped fit the power commander. FWIW i found the slow speed power delivery much improved once the full exhaust system was fitted and it certainly seemed quicker in general. It would be good to find out from a fellow tosser what difference changing the full system makes to the new bike. :aidan

No its completely different to the TC set up the valve is not removable from the headers on the wc so suggests the Remus and akraprovic do not use it .

My TC never used the valve either .

Ding Dong, nice wheels....BST? What size wheel and tyres and is that the original front mudguard? Thinking of getting a pair for my LC. Are they worth the effort?

Cheers Mark

Yep bst 17" wheels 6" on he rear with a fat 190 tyre there R1200S wheels and fit without mods, front mudguard is a k12s just cut down and some brackets made.

Yes they make a massive difference in handling and turns in very quick.

I've not checked the fitment on the LC so can't say if the wheels are interchangeable if the stock TC wheels fit a LC than the stock R1200S and RT12 wheels will fit.

So I've just cancelled my Akrapovic collector back-order having spent the week with the new can fitted. To be honest the bike is now complete. All that had been missing was aural pleasure. I am now sated. Damn this bike is good.

The baffles, if that's what they are, are odd though. Just milled steel collars. No obvious baffling going on?

I have installed a full Remus exhaust. The flap is not used, I kept the motor and just removed the cables.

It must be loud as fook with the full system because with just the can and baffle in when you gas it, its got a very angry bark and at a constant speed across Europe it was doing my head in so I'm outing my Remus and having a akra jobby.
