Sorry to drag you all away from the 1200 GSA stuff ;) but has anyone got the Akropovic system with the stacked cans on their (to quote BWM) 'basic' :( GS12?, and if so, would appreciate any comments on performance, sound, etc.

Thanks,

John

I'd like to know too.... Not impressed with my full remus system :( No way near as good as the BOS system I had for a short while :clap

Think remus have cut corners so the pipework and can can fit on the std system and the otherway round.

Looks like Akrapovic is the way forward!

Or a BOS system again...........

i don't have one myself, but i was driving behing someone with it the other day and it sounded amazing. i'm planning on upgrading to a 1200gs or 1200gsa and hopefully i'll have enough money left to get one. never mind the power and weight, it's worth the money for the sound alone

Okay, that's the Remus system out, and the sound of the Akro sorted, anyone comment on power?. I know the quality will be good, always had Akro's on my previous bikes and been impressed.

It's either PB or Ride that's running one long-term. They just did a dyno comparison, same day, I believe with BSD's Mark Brewin. They found the Akros got 10 hp and 10 fpt more than stock. They also noted that the Akras needed nothing more. Just bolt on and go. They neither ran rich or lean in the entire rev range.

The Remus system ran lean and even though Remus says it doesn't need a power commander like device BSD recommended it and Remus is also coming out with one of thier own. It was a minimal gain of 1-2 hp compared ot the Akras.

I'll be fitting a system this winter so if you want to wait for detailed pics...

Yep, would be very interested in how you get on fitting the Akro system mate, keep us posted. Sounds like it's the way to go though from the reports you mention :thumb

Anyone on here already fitted a full Arky system?

Want one badly but will probably settle for the silencer (single) due to cost :(

I'd like to see all 3 systems tested back to back.... Really do think the BOS system would raise a few eyebrows, cant say how much better than the remus it feels :thumb

Think you can get the full stainless system for about £550ish... maybe less around Jan sales time. The pipe work is quite thicker than the remus headers as they just seem to be the same as the STD pipes but without the cat.

Akra system

I'm looking to get a full Akrapovic system out of an insurance claim currently going through. Not fully decided yet, though. I'd love to know how it goes, so if anyone else goes ahead shortly, please post to say how it is.

Can it REALLY be a "straight swap" without having to worry about fuelling? I suppose lambda sensors should sort out any weakening of the mixture.

Anyone know if a BMW dealer will/should supply and fit the Akra system? Can't buy it separately because payment will be made direct to them by insurers (not mine, hopefully). They have offered to do so with a Remus, but having read comments about Remus above, I'm not too sure any more.

Robin.

It was my dealer (Prestige) who told me about the Akro system first off, so I'm assuming he would be prepared to fit it. Initially ordered Remus, but definately going to change to Akropovic.

Contacted Nippy Normans & have been told the Akrapovic dual cans will fit with the stock hard bags. Just waiting for some feedback on the noise issue (102 db ??)

I'm assuming that's the full 'race' system, as opposed to the road legal system?

I really must get off my arse (thanks for the nag Franky ;) ) and get my Bos system dyno'd - I'll post the results here as soon as. But, as Franky says, I think it will give some plesantly surprising results.

I was thinking that the BOS system looked very nice. Is it any louder on the legal setting? - I don't want a loud irritating drone while touring at motorway speeds on the continent.
