Just a heads up to anyone that wants an actual alarm fob for the GS/ GSA, my dealer coded the K1600 fob to my bike a few weeks ago, and it works perfectly. Keep the DWA option in the computer set to OFF, and the buttons will activate/ deactivate the alarm.

Cost was £30, and yes, I know it should be included with the bike, but it isn't. Get over it!:P

Good stuff! It is really annoying when triggering alarm while refueling! I'm assuming that with factory fitted alarm on GS, there is radio receiver which remote control talks to? or it was fitted as part of this coding exercise? I was bit dissapointed when found out there is no remote fob for alarm ( I had one on S1000RR though).

I'm sure there must be, but as the alarm costs the same as on bikes with a fob, it's a bit daft/ cheeky that they do to include one as standard.

As fobs go that's not looking too shabby.

Made from the same unobtainium as the key by the looks of it :).

Mine should be on order tomorrow then!

I'll order mine tomorrow as mines booked in for Thursday for its first service :)

What's the partnumber?

Oh this is brilliant info, I should be taking delivery this week and plumped for the alarm despite lack of a fob. I'll email them now, hope they will do it.

Cheers mate.

What dealer did you use? Did they code the bike to the fob for free?

I booked my GSA WC in a cpl weeks ago for this, and they said they will use remotes from the RT. Price was something like what you quoted plus 45mins or so labour for the programming. Which will equate to a lot more than £30...

I have asked SBW guys for this and they will order fob for me, but they said that they have not done it before but they will try... I'm not sure about 30£ though... was it special treatment?

Vines coded it when they fitted the quickshifter. Maybe, as the bike was on their computer anyway, they didn't charge to code it.:nenau

Cool Cuz I've phoned vines with the part number and asked them to sort it when mines in for the 600 mile service on Thursday since l bought the bike from them.

The only thing l haven't got is the quickshifter on my bike.

Becky at Southport Super Bikes ordered me a fob for about £40 and emailed me the alarm handbook to program it....

My dealer wants 15 mins to program the fob .. £26.10.

Given that and I'd prefer to have 2 fobs anyway and they can program 2 at the same time I went ahead and ordered a 2nd fob. Interesting that they're now out of them in the UK and it's a week for delivery from Germany. Seems to be catching on.

Just don't want all this new kit stolen now :D

I was put off from having the alarm due to no fob but now I'm interested.

Can i ask where the alarm is situated on the bike ! (I'd rather fit it myself and get the dealer to program it)
