hello

i am posting this on behalf of Trip/Steve, who is out in india at the moment having successfully completed most of the london/kathmandu trip (though clearly not all!)

he has had an off - a term i trust you are more familiar with than i am - and whilst he's fine (though his pillion has a corker of a gash on the nose) the bike has suffered some damage so he's having it shipped back to london and is carrying on to nepal in the 4x4 for the last 10 days or so of the trip

there is a minor problem with shipping the bike back in that he can't work out how to change the alarm setting. currently it is set to automatically come on when the bike is turned off. he knows that there is a way to re-program this using the fob but has just discovered that his manual is missing the all-important alarm section.

he's asked me to post this and hopes that one of you might have said alarm section somewhere handy and can take a look. if you could post back with instructions on how to do this that I can relay to him over the phone i would be really grateful!!

thanks very much

linda

Without knowing what alarm he has, can't he just disconnect the battery and wait for the alarm back up battery to go flat. Sorry that I can't be more helpful :o

Thanks :) That's exactly what I was after. The problem is it doesnt work.

"The left button is button one, the right button is button two"

I assume this is the buttons on the fob - which way up is it being held when this left/right assignment is going on? With the buttons at the top? One button has a texture surface, I assume this is button one?

Either way, I can't get into programming mode using it either way round. Are these instructions still current? I have two bikes out here and it doesnt work with either of them. Does 'step 1: disable alarm function' just mean turn the alarm off before putting the ignition on?

Thanks for your help.

Button 1 is the textured LH one holding the alarm fob 'pointing' away from you. Turning the ignition on should in any event disable the alarm, whether or not you turn it off using the fob first. You may find that replacing the battery in the alarm fob will make things easier.

Yes, it means turn the alarm off before turning ignition on. Then complete steps 2 to 6 of the first set of instructions. This just gets you into program mode.
Then complete steps 1 to 4 of the second set. To stop the alarm setting itself automatically press button 2 at step 4. HTH

Make sure that the kill switch is set to on (allows engine to run) or you can't get into the programme mode. Took me a couple of days to work it out!!

alarm
