I have a 6 month old 1200GS LC and it seems to have an alarm fault, the dealers want me to bring it in for diagnostics, which I will do, but being self employed that will cost me £100's in lost earnings and they don't seem to want to collect the bike at their expense.
As far as I'm told the alarm should flash the indicators twice after 30 seconds to show that it has armed. About half the time my indicators come on and stay on for about 1.5 minutes instead of flashing twice.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I didn't get any alarm book with the bike, should I have got one?

I didn't receive any separate paperwork for the alarm on my GSA LC, it is covered in the hand book, page 52, in the GSA one.

Have you tried turning the alarm off and then re-activating it again?

Yes sometimes when I turn it off it resets ok and sometimes it just goes back to the 1.5 minutes with the indicators on.

I have the alarm but I also have the remotes for it, it beeps and flashes the indicators twice on arming, once on disarm, not seen the indicators flash after a minute or so but I suspect this is the self arming feature that everyone thinks is a pain in the butt, especially at petrol stops and on the ferry.

The alarm auto sets as a default. I ordered the K1600 fob and had it coded to my alarm. I turned off the auto arming via the settings menu on the OBC and arm and disarm manually. The indicators flash twice instantly on arming and once on disarming.

Maybe try turning the alarm off on the menu and disconnect the battery for a few minutes then reconnect and test the alarm function.

Worth a try as it wil take. 10 mins.

Mine 2014 gsa lc came with no alarm fob. The k1600 alarm fob can be coded to work the lc alarm, but you have turn off the dwa function on the dash.

They don't flash after a minute the come on and stay on for 1.5 minutes, constantly lit, after 30 seconds. That has got to be something wrong surely.

Also yes I do have a key fob, built into the key. It is a keyless bike though.

A K1600 alarm fob can be coded to your. Bike so you have manual control over the alarm. They are circa £35 :beerjug:

Thanks, I'll look into that, it'll be easier than having to go into the menu every time I want to switch the alarm on or off.

I managed to finish work early today and Balderston's (Peterborough) agreed to look at the bike at short notice. Very good customer service, especially when considering that I didn't buy the bike from them. Lots of brownie points to them.
Luckily the fault appeared on que in their car park. They had not seen anything similar before and were surprised. The computer diagnostics showed no faults but they had seen the fault with their own eyes. They re-programed the ECU and so far the problem hasn't returned. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
