I'm having a real problem here. I bought my GSA new in August 2021. Fully loaded with all the options. Included an alarm system. Worked fine. Quite sensitive; when activated as soon as you mounted the bike and righted it of the side stand you'd hear the warning ''beeps'' a few times before the alarm went off telling you had a few seconds to turn on the ignition and deactivate the alarm system. All fine so far.....
My bike went back for the BMW recall a few weeks back and after the recall the alarm did not work at all. Took it back to the dealers and they admitted alarm unit was faulty and would be replaced free of charge as it was still under warranty. Anyway today I took the bike in to have this done and they said they replaced some electrical components and the alarm system. I got a vague answer when I asked for the details and when I asked for a copy of the work order to see exactly what they had done I was told it was BMW policy and they could not share but not to worry, all was in their system.
I rode 15 km back home and when I got home EXAXCTLY the same problem as before. Its as though they had not done anything. Alarm arms fine, i get the warning beep but when I sit on it and lift it off the side stand - nothing. Tilt sensor clearly not working. I moved the bike about 3 metres by hand - no ignition and still it did not go off. Finally after i banged it into a wall it went off.
I called the workshop again and told them. Their answer was I had to ensure the key was far away from the bike - i.e. keyless go out of range. the test they said they did was to move it from centre stand and that bounce movement should set it off.
My question is what has happened that the old way of the alarm working has now changed and apparently has been influenced by the software upgrade. Is anyone aware that in the recent software upgrade BMW changed the factory settings of the alarm and made it much less sensitive?
Dealer is not really helpful. Biggest one in NL and I really don't think they care. Before I make a big fuss through BMW Berlin I'd like to hear some opinions.
thanks
