Alaska 2015

I have already booked up onto the Yellowstone trip. I'm also considering the Alaska trip for the following year, though with thoughts on making it a bigger ride. East to West then up to meet Chris in Alaska. Anyone else have similar ideas..??

It's certainly something I'd like to do if all the logistics worked out.

Re: 2015 trip

Road route from Anchorage AK to Santa Rosa CA July 2015

Right all, here is the first draft of a road route from Anchorage to Santa Rosa. The bikes would be flown out to Anchorage and containered back from Santa Rosa California. There is some great stuff on this route and takes in the Alaska coast as well as all the mountains and glaciers. I've done it so at a pinch, you only need 3 weeks off work which most companies will give you. I've cleared it with the airfreight company to allow me to clear the bikes at the airport so you should be able to get in on Saturday and your bike will be ready. You will note only one day off but I can out another in if we get into Santa Rosa on Saturday rather than Friday. The mileages look a bit high on some days but to those who have been on my trips, they are no problem due to lack of traffic and great roads. July 2015 would be a good time for this trip.

Saturday Collect Bikes Anchorage

For some reason, I can't get the spreadsheet up on the forum to make it read easily. It looks OK when it's previewed so hope it makes some kind of sense. It's basically, start - basic route - finish - mileage.

If you are interested, PM me your email address and I'll mail it to you along with the dirt road version.

Hi Chris

I am 50 in June 2015 and need something different to look forward too, have a underused Yamaha 660 Tenere and would like some more details of your trips please

Cheers

Phil

All

I've nailed down the shipping companies etc and i can confirm dates for this trip.

Depart Anchorage Alaska on Sunday 19th July 2015
Arrive Santa Rosa California on Friday 8th August 2015

The bikes will be airfreighted in to Anchorage and will get there on Wednesday 15th July 2015. The customs formalities should be fairly straightforward and I'll be there to clear the bikes so you should be able to fly in and your bike will be uncrated and ready to go. At least that's the plan.

The bikes will be returned in a 40ft container and I will load this on Tuesday 11th August in Santa Rosa.

Could all those you have expressed interest either pm me with your e-mail address or mail me direct at [email protected] so I can start sending out info for this trip:thumby:

For all interested in this trip, I'll be having an open day at Skygods Adventure bike emporium in Salford Manchester www.adventurebikewarehouse.co.uk on Saturday 2nd August 2014. I'll have fleshed out a lot of the details by then so if anyone is interested in this, or the Coast to Coast I'm doing beforehand, come along from about 1pm and I'll have lots of information. For all those who have already contacted me, I'll remind you by e-mail.

I will do a powerpoint presentation and will be able to answer all of your questions.

Skygod has said he will do one of his famous chilli's and there will be tea and coffee on tap.

Dammit, work means I've not been able to make these trips. Next year work is changing but I'm getting married at the end of May. Can you run one of these in 2016 please ;)

Hearing me waffle on about riding in the US may trigger something in you to do it at some point. Also, Skygod's "Mans Chilli" is worth the trip from just about anywere:D
