Toying with either going the LED bulb or LED cluster from ALI

Ive used the LED bulbs before and apart from one failure have been pretty impressed

The complete lamp cluster looks interesting, but i'm not sold on it at the moment

Anyone got one, used one? any feeeback good or bad would be appreciated

(setup, longevity, led life heat generated etc )

also how long does Ali stuff take to arrivr and is it more taxes on top

nighteye / novasight brand if going LED bulbs, they wrongly changed the law to let bikes pass with illegal LED bulbs 18 month ago...

most ads quote lumen output of a pair of bulbs - so 8000 lm is really 4k each, and too white at 6000k colour temp,

u want fan-less and really 2000 lm and 5000k, but the idiots don't make them
xenon's used to be about 2100 lm and 4300k
halogen glow worms about 1200 lm and 3400k

I've had fanless and fanned, the fanless needed an ignitor boxs which i had to mount in the cockpit, the fanless in comparison had tiny boxes that lived in the headlight unit

Had one for quite some time now. Great light output. Perfect beam pattern on the road. You will pay taxes. But mine came to less than £150.00 all in. About 3 weeks to arrive.simple to fit. No mot problems.

Whichever version you choose, you won't regret it. In fact you'll be wondering how the OEM unit was ever approved. I need to check, but my unit has been in for 3 or 4 years and works perfectly.

As a heads up though, beware the model in opening link. I have the very same unit (I prefer how it looks) but there has been a balls up with the moulding of the rear cowling that the mounting lugs are moulded into. In short, they're conspicuously out of alignment (now I've told you, it'll be obvious). On the bike, the mounting points are in line, on the same axis so they act like a hinge/pivot. But in this version of the led headlamp, they are not on the same axis, so once mounted, your clocks will be askew... The other more OEM looking headlamp design doesn't have this issue.

If you're handy, it can be fixed, which is what I've done and all is good.

I think because they're out of alignment, there's more stress on that back cowling and in my case the mounting lugs began to crack. So I made aluminium lugs, in alignment, and glued it all copiously (but neatly!) With structural acrylic adhesive and it's all still happy and behaving some years later :-). But flipping annoying!

But as a headlamp, they're great. You'll be happy

Delivery varies to be honest.

I suspect some kit stored in uk

If you allow 3 weeks that should be safe I’d say

Following with interest. Discovered this today while giving the bike a much deserved wash. Reckon it happened on Saturday spin, loose chipping on resurfaced road.

I never usually ride at night and not too concerned about aesthetics….. some wide clear tape will be my first port of call. Will go for economic option on replacement I think.

There’s a lot of posts on LED…. Is there a “best” option?

The led headlamp units that keep being mentioned are not only good (better!) at night time. They're a big bonus during the day also... Far more visible.

Hi Gazza is your light still available? Do you have a link? Are they straightforward to change over? TIA

Plenty of threads in here about them. Do a search. They appear to be pretty cheap at the moment if you go to AliExpress and search. Be prepared to scroll down a bit as there's loads.

Here's one link

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out!

Make sure you check the all in price before you order. To avoid paying surcharges

Hey bhud, if you do go for the LED headlamp (you wont regret it!) stick with the ones which look like the original similar to the link from gazza and then contact Slipperyeel and buy one of his excellent adjusters so you can align it correctly. I have fitted a couple of these headlamp units with the Slipperyeel adjusters and am well impressed with the light and the ease of setup. They are rock steady when you use slipperies adjuster widget.

Thanks for the positive comments

***You are right though to highlight that the adjuster fits the headlamp that most resembles they OEM unit***

For those of you contacting me for an adjuster to fit the 'radical' angular version of the headlamp. I'm onto it. Had more emails recently. I also want one . I hope this will become available in the coming weeks (4-6) as I need to check it of course.
