Allan Jefferies

Always found AJ's to be very good......I don't mind paying for the 'loaner'.....15 quid to rattle 'round the dales all day, on someone else's £12K 'bike, sounds cheap to me.....:thumb2

Did I mention that my GS is in there for a service tomorrow.....:D

Will let you know how I get on.....:)

If you want a real laugh, try a Triumph dealer...FFS.......:spitfire...

Just thought I'd update this thread with my experience on D(Delivery) Day.

On arrival I was spoken to by a salesman, Steve, I think who was a top bloke and ran through things with me in detail. I ended up getting stung with paying some of a fee levied by paying on a credit card however this had not been mentioned earlier but then again I hadn't initially fully decided how I was going to pay for the bike so maybe they would have mentioned it earlier if I'd told them earlier.
My GSA was all prepped and ready to go and Steve fitted the panniers, topbox and tankbag I'd pre-ordered and took me through their fitment and operation.

I then went over to the Parts Dept and spoke with a lad called Paul on there whom told me that the 15% discount I'd been promised on a Rallye jacket could not be given. The reasons quoted were it was his last one and he couldn't discount it even though the saleman who'd brokered my bike deal had promised it. Needless to say i was totally pissed off by this and stood my ground however in the end I compromised with him at a 10% discount and a free canbus GPS socket so not too bad in the end. Paul did seem a decent guy and promised a discount on the next item I buy.

I don't really know what to make of the whole thing, I did get a large discount on the bike along with discount on accessories and a free first service but I still feel slightly disatisfied.

Maybe its me expecting too much after spending around £13000 but its now nearly 3 weeks later and I've had no follow up from them at all.

After they had quoted £189 labour to fit my Zumo and Autocom I ended up doing them myself in a couple of hours when I got home. I reckon fitting them would be a decent sideline at £90 per hour!

We'll see what the future brings!

I test rode it after getting sick of the contorted riding position of sportbikes aggravating an old knee injury which was getting worse as the years went by.
I liked the look of it and read positive reviews by various motorcycle journalists. I loved the test ride and put an order in not because I wanted to be fashionable but because I loved riding the GSA.
As for having too much dosh I'm financing it with a bank loan in the main with my existing bike as deposit so aren't rich by any means, I just love motorcycling so spend a large proportion of what I do have on it.
I can't comment on quality as I haven't got the bike yet......it could turn into an ownership nightmare or it may be the best bike I've ever had, if I don't buy one I will never know!
I'm hoping the dealer customer service improves from here on in though and I'll be sending in a letter to the MD of the dealership at the end of the buying experience highlighting whats good and whats not about their service.
I so know what you mean.I owned years ago a RT1100 and "Liked" it,was ace at touring 2 up:thumb.
Got a new Job at the beginning of the year and was able to finance my 1200 GSA(private)
It is just a stunning bike,i love it.The Looks, the ride, the 2up ability are just brilliant

In Jefferies defence, they immediately looked at my K1200S when the brake servo failed on a Saturday lunchtime, gave me a completely free loan bike for the weekend as it was a warranty claim and had it up and running again with a new servo by Tuesday.

My mates K1200S broke down on Sunday (bit of a pattern going on here :blast ) and neither Southport Superbikes nor Williams (where he bought the bike from and had it serviced) would look at it until September  So he had BMW Assist take it to Jefferies and they had it repaired with a new fuel pump by 5pm yesterday - now that's customer service :thumb

My K is also going back in for some "goodwill" warranty work which they suggested following the 18k service last week, even though the warranty ran out in April.

Pity their service prices are 50% more than Williams though :(

The problem is the dealer system

In the manufacturers are to blame for this. They've organised a system which protects even the incompetant dealer from competition. In many areas you don't really have a choice as to where you go to buy your bike/car.
Where I live in France the local dealer owns all the BMW (car and bike) franchises. if I wanted to change dealer I'd have to make a 600-800lm round trip for a service.
