Ally panniers protection

Evening,

September sees a new bike and I have spec'd BMW aluminium panniers and topbox. I prefer this thread to not start an argument about which are best etc.

What I am aware of is that they are not anodised so from brand spanking new would it help if I dosed them with some kind of wax, Polish, protectant etc and if so any recommendations. Not wanting to be too anal about it though just want to enhance the look for as long as possible.

Finally why don't they anodise them is it down to cost or some other reason?

I'm not sure about anodising but you could get them wrapped which preserves them and is reversible.

Two options GT85 spray silicone . Harder work but a a good carnuba wax is easy to apply and wipe off.

I bought a kit from a local supplier that is pre-cut and easy to apply.
