Hi everyone. As I have just ordered my new 1200 GS TE, I am about to buy this chain to protect the new baby.
I have two questions:

1) Which length do you suggest (1.5m or 2.0m?)? . As I am going to carry the chain with me, I ve decided to buy the III series (IV looks too heavy). I have no anchor at home.

2) Which is the best way to chain up the bike: I ve read lot of stuff in this forum but I have no clear idea. Can someone provide any picture to show me the proper setting?

Thanks a million!

Davide

My view is go big !
Its a good chain but bloody heavy regardless of which one you go for.

Get a good ground anchor and then chain the bike through the frame to the ground anchor trying not to leave any of the chain on the floor is my advice

I use the III 2 metre and it is simply too heavy to carry so it's only good to leave at home chained around an immovable object.

The owner is a good chap, a biker and he has lots of tips for choosing the right one. He discounts if you have the code they publish in one of the road race magazines.

When buying the postage rate they get makes second hand purchase often not attractive.

Should have added they also do a ground anchor which can accommodate the chain link.

Thanks redrick, but I cannot have an anchor where the bike is parked. Is a private area but I am just a tenant!

Is the owner member of this forum? Because I ve sent a mail through the Almax website 4 days ago, but no answer..

In that case wrap it around as much of the bike as possible making sure it does not touch the ground

The bad news is if you cannot chain it to an immovable object the bike is still easily stolen by a couple of big blokes with a van

I can wrap it on a pole but not an anchor. In this case do you think 1.5m is enough?

The owner of Almax gave me some tips for a way to get advised of someone interfering with it. 5 miles range vox walkin talkie and a movement sensor, etc.

Almax ?

I bought the Immobiliser Chain & Squire padlock combo over 10 years ago, plus a Torc ground anchor for outside. The shackle in the padlock fell out recently due to metal fatigue,Squire guarantee the padlocks for 10 years.I got in touch with Squire & they replaced the padlock. The chain looks as good as new.
Whether you buy the 1.5 or 2 metre chain, you'll find it very heavy to lug around.A decent bit of kit.
