Does anyone have a knowledge of alternative footpegs/rests for the GS? I can only find NippyNormans fastway pegs, which are expensive- it'd be nice to know what else is available...

I know the fastways arent cheap but I have had them on for a year now and they have made so much difference it totally justifies the price. I go off road most weekend on my 1200 and the confidence they give you to really lean on them and move the bike is second to none.

I put a thread in the wtd section and got a pair for £50.

There is bound to be someone that has bought them for bling but doesnt need them.

If you paid £9k for your bike then £70 is 0.77% of the value but adds 20% plus to the ability.

I take it that you have already removed the rubbers from the standard pegs....? If not, it's worth trying that before you buy aftermarket ones. Just grab the rubber and pull upwards until it pops out of the peg.

I sat on a bike fitted with (I think) Fastaway pegs early last year and was impressed by the improvement in legroom (a 36 inch inseam takes up a lot of space). Being a frugal bear, I fitted a pair of Triumph pegs lying around in the junkbox, the only cost being a pint for the friend who machined me a pair of sleeves to make the pegs (10mm clevis pin) fit a BMW 8mm pin. Apart from that, a couple of bits of lexan stuck to the frame to give the pegs something to rest against and I'm in business. If you haven't the option of machining the sleeves, look at any BMW pegs in a bereakers yard for inspiration.
